Hello there, the time has come to sell my lovely Mercedes 230e, I've owned it since June 2013 and it has ran perfectly. But I need a daily drive and can't keep 2 cars. It's an '84 230e, 112,000 miles, taxed SORN, MOT 22/02/14. I can upload more pictures on request. There are a couple of niggles, namely the indicator relay needs replacing, the steering wheel has some play, and the bonnet release catch has a broken pivot (bonnet can still be released by pulling the handle), but all easy fixes. Engine and auto box are strong. No real panel rust to speak of either. The car has ran perfectly fine and aside from the indicator relay, has been totally reliable The car is in South Manchester, and I'm looking for £800. Anything that you need to know, feel free to message me on here or contact me on 07921954483. Simon

Hi mate, without taking them off I couldn't give a definitive answer, but there is no sign of any corrosion on the inside and nothing has creeped past the chrome either so I assume that they're all good.

Hi Simon, how's the steering rack? are you expecting it to pass the MOT, I am looking for a W123 but I'm not in a mad hurry. Got any documentary proof of the mileage? That's a good colour btw! cheers Jerry

I forgot to ask, how are the inner sills and the inside ends of the jacking points?

Apart from the indicators and rear number plate lights currently being inop, I don't see why it would not pass an MOT. Last years MOT had a couple of advisories that were rectified by previous owner. I can't prove mileage apart from a bunch of old MOT certs, but the usual indicators of moon mileage aren't there. The car feels lively.

I forgot to ask, how are the inner sills and the inside ends of the jacking points? Jacking points have a touch of surface rust but have full integrity, sills are clean. Can post more photos if you'd like Jerry. Simon

Lovely car. GLWTS.

Every one of these I've ever had came with vague steering and play in the wheel.
The 123 is my favourite car of all time. Just a shame that they tend to rust.
Get some interior pics up please - a sagged driver's seat is a great indication of intergalactic miles.

I'll take some interior pictures tomorrow, the drivers seat is very springy and could probably do with being re-sprung or a new seat, I'm unsure whether that's down to age and mileage or the previous owner being 20 stone...

That is a lovely motor, sadly I haven't the space nor the cash, but best of luck with the sale.

I think the MOT situation is your main sticking point. The prospect of putting these through MOTs isn't a nice one, considering their propensity to rust. It'd fly off the shelf with a fresh ticket.
