Cool video! I can't wait to see what they come up with next I'll check the mag out when I'm next in Smiths too though again I'm not sure I'll be able to bring myself to parting with money!

After years of encouraging idiot behavior and ruining long running modified car meets i am amazed anyone thinks a few more acceptable cars in a magazine is going to help. The sooner max power mag disappears the better

After years of encouraging idiot behavior and ruining long running modified car meets I am amazed anyone thinks a few more acceptable cars in a magazine is going to help. The sooner max power mag disappears the better An understandable sentiment I turned up at a hot rod/custom car meet years ago in my Golf to be turned away from the near-empty car park as "we don't want any of those Max Power krooZ nobheads here, sorry mate sure you understand etc etc"... Had to park it round the corner! A few of them did wander over to have a look at it though

its cool that a big mag is covered all this diverse stuff and changing its self. and it appears finding some really nice and interesting motors, but it is still MAX POWERand that still means barry'ed up novas/fiestas in my mind and its not going to change just yet. i saw a copy yesterday, but i couldnt pick up a max power magazine. and if this is happening, where are all the chavs going now? and the Max Power show, whats gonna be there? Its good coverage, but just wrong,...

its not just a case of "a few acceptable cars" tho.
They changed it ... four(?) months back, and every issue since then has had something of interest. Theres been the hoodrides/rats, lowriders, andys victor, an article on VIP, plus loads more.
typically, we're a bunch of open minded people when it comes to cars. Surely we should be the same with the mags - especially when it seems this one is turning the corner

And we all drive naff, usually ropey old cars with sometimes insane home brew modifications, many of which are for nothing more than asthetics. What's your point? ;D

I suspect the change in direction has more to do with falling sales and advertising revenue than anything else

What are all the "nova boys" reading now? Maybes if it had a new title, like, erm.... Car Enthusiast (or something more inspiring), then it'd be more acceptable. Why have they suddenly changed? Its not like all the "nova boys" are now ratting and buying big J saloons... I may buy one (though @ ÂŁ4.50 ) and see if I can be swayed...

The beauty of these things is that you can choose. You can either buy it, or not buy it. I'm guessing it's current format is a result of the 'Kroozers' going elsewhere, or maybe just growing up. Don't forget deucecoupe, under the 'I'm not buying it because of it's past' rule you shouldn't buy CC - in the seventies it was Chavtastic, boobs, silly stories, bad taste mods etc and in the eighties it was bodykits, Ferraris and music/video reviews. Street Machine was launched (on TV!) aimed at a similar demographic to Max Power's original market too... Any magazine is only as good as it's content. Vote with your wallet! ;D

I hope Max power goes the same way as street machine

goes the same way as Street Machine - as in changes its name and features lots of Mopars?
I remember Custom Car glorifying all manner of silly things, like doing donuts in a Thames van on a cross chanel ferry car deck... like taking the head off the hog roast and impaling it on the velocity stack of the editor of another mag's Camaro...
I have issue 1 of Custom car somewhere and the editorial says"whats Custom Car about - its about birds, its about disco, its about a scene"
Although thinking back now the Thames van incident may have been in "Street Rod & Machine Monthley". But CC was often featuring muchos silly antics. and to a lesser extent still has been doing recently. NSRA forum and Gasser seem to be the only places in the world that stern words are given to those doing burnouts in public places, IIRC CC recently refered to them as "the usual antics at the Ace" (although recent can be any time in 5 years according to my memory)
So our laundry isn't that sparkly white either.
Cars + testosterone = sillyness.
2 years ago, 18 months ago I'd say Max Power was at its lowest eb in terms of being nothing but bad language, pointless attitude and nothing to say.
However to their credit for about a year before the relaunch they had been promoting safer driving and all manner of other things in respomnse to the terible driving stats for their readers' demographic.
4 issues back they sacked most of their staff and started again....
the back of Hot Rod is full of adverts for Viagra and knob enlargement devices (I don't mean 70s Trans Ams either) If people recognise their mistakes and make good on them I say give 'em a chance.
An d you have to give credit, a hell of a lot of effort has obviously gone into the new Max Power. Its top drawer production quality right through. I think ths is "make or break" and they've thrown a lot at it to get it good.

Why have they suddenly changed? Its not like all the "nova boys" are now ratting and buying big J saloons... its totally been driven by the advertisers. They didnt want to advertise in a mag aimed at 16 year olds who wanted to see a bit of nipple but Max have had the balls to say that, admit they need to change, and have done something about it. good luck to them i say, what i've read recently i've quite enjoyed.
