they are all different in detail, but most of em run the extra RS bracing, a decent roll cage, a 5 or 6 linked rear end with a couple of thousand pounds worth of Atlas axle with beefed up shafts big bearings and a LSD, some sort of race/rally car front struts and big brakes and a 2wd cossie YB and a T5 gearbox.
one of em i know will spin up the rear wheels in 4th gear when it comes on boost, even in the dry. :S
bare in mind though that Fords were building mk1's with over 300bhp back in the seventies and all the suspension upgrade parts are still available, along with newer designed stuff, one of the reasons for their popularity is they are still very competitive race cars.

more power don't always get you more speed though, even a darg car will hit its limit if you don't play with suspension geometry/grip/weight etc etc let alone one you want to go round corners.
