In case anybody isn't familar with this project, it started with a thread on here when I was bored one day and decided that I wanted to get a Porsche. retrorides.proboards86.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1157977792&page=1A few striking bits of good luck and amazing coincidences later and we arrive at the current point I'm trying to resist posting too many photos at the moment as there is a possiblity of a magazine feature at some point, but the one above shows the LHS rear inner wheel arch with factory GT chassis re-enforcements welded in and the wheel arch flare on. You can also just see the cross brace that allows you to bolt the roof on, turning the car into a GT instead of a convertible in the eyes of the FIA. It's got an appointment for a roll cage at the end of May, so before then all the metalwork must be done so it can be acid dipped, primed and have the dashboard installed. That has to go in before the cage as the 2 front legs get in the way.

Excellent work! I was going to turn my 914 into a German looker and put on flared GT wings from Pelican Parts. Armando's site shows a very in depth pictorical description of how to put in flared arches, but in the end the cost got too much for the steel wings and wasn't overly happy on using the repro grp ones so I blew the German look fund on a set of Porsche Pattern Cosmics instead and stuck 'em on the 14! What motor are you running in it? Are you staying Flat 4 or going for a Flat 6?

The car is a six, right down to the chassis number I couldn't have done it without the Serrano site - it's like a very very very in depth instruction manual

Nice work, i'd be mega tempted to layer up some laquer or summat and keep the industrial look!
|
|
it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I'm going to need 8 of the Fuching things at least - the prospect of paying for them scares me somewhat!!!111 Boshed a new battery tray in today between jobs as well. My photo skillz0rZ are weak unfortunately. I'll report back again when I've made some more major progress

Nice to see some pics of the progress.
I take it the hell hole and other areas were good and sound. Looked solid from pics when you got it.

Super solid I'm hoping for a complete lack of bad news when it comes back from being dipped. I've found one stress crack, one doughnut/triangle (the RHS rear) and the bits under the jacking points on the longs. All in all not that much though
