So, I've bought a 1962 Citroen HY horsebox to become the 'works van' / racecar transporter, progress is slow due to paying work but I'll update as and when I can. It is very original, handbooks, tools etc, and has never seen a welder or a repair in its life, but my god does it need to! "bonnet": Suntan: This: Plus this: Equalled this: This side, however: required a full repair panel: unfortunately only the later type of panel is available, and it needs the large indicator recess welding up. also, being super anal, one of the ribs needed extending. these are shorter here, i believe to allow fitment to suicide / non-suicide doors, as per french / dutch built vans. other work so far has seen both large outrigger sections behind the front wheels cutout and refab'd, only a 'during' pic available I'm afraid!: and the rear chassis and wheel tubs repaired, more pictures to follow when the manflu subsides! Next couple of weeks should see the arrival of a donor screen surround to help repair the very rotten screen aperture. some progress may also appear on my facebook page - www.facebook.com/olliminium

I recognise that place isnt that Royal Ordnance Depot at Weedon? I am up the road in Daventry.
I seem to remember some guy having a collection of fire engines in there.
I also seem to remember talking to an old boy who used to work there he reckoned the canal arm was full of unexploded ordnance from stuff dropping off boats don't know how true that is.
I might pop in i need an ali airbox building if you are up for it?

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

Ha, this has the exact amount of misunderstood charm that piques my interest! Are you keeping the patina all around? What's the timber rear like? Looks like you could just coach screw those barn doors on to the side as replacements and they'd fit right in! Well jealous of that location!

Keeping all the patina I can, but the rear timber is completely shot, and long gone!

Looks like some good work there. If you don't mind me asking where did you get the replacement panels from? I'm guessing either franzose/cipere or hyspares? What's the quality like? Apologies for the questions, it's just I need to order some up in the near future. Keep up the good work
