yes it is strange about the scrubbage mine was on the left front kept catching the seam for the footboard inside the arch thought at first was due to possibly accident damadge but after closer inspection and getting the tape out found that the o/s front also touched the same flange but not as bad as it was 4 mm smaller on that side so take the dodgy top bearing onto the n/s aswell i reckon I'm ok so i have brought a set of dartboards as u call em in 5j with 4 new 185/60/13 on for £60 u gotta love ebay, so am hoping should get a 2 maybe 2.5 inch drop on the back and 3 on the front and still be ok as them roads be rough down ere in cornwall lol

The chrome wheels I have are 6 x 14 with 0 offset and I use 155/65s on them. Clearance on the back is tight but just about sufficient.

I have had Mondeo 15" rims with 185/55s on the back and they were OK.

Citroen BX wheels too, which are I think 5.5x14 again with 155/65. Basically I don't think you can go up much in overall diameter but there is room for more girth. Ahem.

so managed to get a few more hours in this week got the first couple of skims on the corner of the front wing but due to the temprature it was taking an age to harden off heres how it looks so far



so while this was going off i thought i couldnt put it off any longer time to have a look at the roof gutters, now even though it had spent most of it's life in australia this car i beleive had a vinyl roof on it which has caused the gutters to rot out badly on the drivers side but not so bad on the passengers, now the po thought that it would be a good idea to fill the gutters and blend them into the roff still with the trim on!!!
so any way i dug em out and they just broke off in my hand so i decided early on to de gutter it as i had more confidence in doing this than trying to remake nearly 85% of the gutters on the car so heart in mouth i put the cutting disc in the grinder and cut the last of a small section of gutter flush with the roof dressed the edges then seamwelded the 2 edges together, as i said before my welding not the tidiest and with a couple of pointers from my mate carl and a quick clean with the disc i ended up with this


still some more work to do but not a bad start just the rot further down to tackle now

no, no roof rack lol , subtle little mod that most people wont notice but should clean up the lines of the car, also had a very interesting chat with a guy up in newquay who apparently has 5 sheds full of rootes arrow parts mostly mechanical bits so will be paying him a visit next month after i have moved but it will give me a complete alloy head and carbs, clutch flywheel etc, complete pedal box manual od gbox prop and back axle, so basically all the parts i need to convert it to manual and he also got a rapier front bumper which I'm gonna cut up to make a pair of quarter bumpers for the front, and i just brought my 3rd and final set of wheels for it will be collecting them next month also just no idea who made them but i just had to have em they wont have the 3 ear knock offs tho 

don't worry mate a soon as i know roughly what he has i will post an ad on the main board as i know he is looking to get rid of the lot I'm he used to banger classics until last year but and these are his words only raced stuff that was too far gone to restore and used to sell all his spares thru the classifieds in practical classics etc as it wasnt just rootes stuff he raced so as soon as i know u will
