I used to need heat on thick ally with my old 160a machine but the new 250a with 32a supply just does the biz with an 1/8 tungsten taper ground the arc is really stable as just the end balls up and doesn't move Yeah mine is on its limit really, wish I had a few more quid to get the larger machine

I didn't have a choice as I beat my 160 to death doing alloy wheel repairs but still got £500 Px against a bigger version from the same maker even though I told them it was broken . I follow a thing on YouTube called welding tips and tricks which showed mixing helium I think with argon made a smaller unit weld much thicker ally than it should

Me too, had a crappy Taiwanese thing years ago that even a welder mate couldn't quite get setup well. Rtech machines are good bang for buck. My next step is a smaller torch too once in happy with the big one supplied with the machine, a few have said water cooled is the way forward too and a gas lens to get more poke out with the tungsten, but for what work I do my setup is adequate at the moment.

Have you sorted your injectors yet ? I used some std red Saab injectors just had to bore the fuel rail connectors slightly to get them in and space the rail up a couple of mm but they're 340 cc so got room for 500 hp

I've read about the ones that fit straight in but freebies are always best . I'm very close to wiring the megasquirt and making some good ( fingers crossed with a £200 motor ) noises

Awesome frog!
Yeah supra injectors are scene taxed like most things plus we need x8 of the buggers, come to think of it using Saab stud is the same as Vauxhalll stuff which is a lot cheaper than J.
I'm aiming for megasquirt pro 3 when ice got the pennies fully sequential on COPs and injectors in a nice little unit.

I picked up a set of six Vauxhall injectors off the bay of E, freshly refurb'd with all the flow certificates etc, for £80. They're apparently good for enough flow for well over 300bhp in a v6, so 8 of them should do you proud!

8 standard Volvo T5 orange injectors would be good for over 500bhp and are a throw away item, so can be had for peanuts.

John aka 'doubleboost' has run up a new leadscrew nut for the mill, so once it arrives i can start getting the mill back together and fire some enthusiasm back into the project, once i get back from a little week away with the family m.youtube.com/playlist?list=UU5iubxTqtZ1GKUQTrz4-CXw

having got the mill all fixed and now up and running, few more bits to setup but all is well got me thinking the little myford lathe was goung to cut it now for larger stuff i tend to need to mavhine, so trawled the net a bit and but the feelers out for a larger lathe. Found a harrison l5 on ebay with a lowish starting price, so whacked a cheeky low bid in, and won it! Bit of cut and paste from another forum- had the old the old Myford ml7 picked up yesterday ready for the addition to take its place. Then picked up the trailer for Saturday. Left early doors this morning heading for north London to pickup the new lathe. Arrived at the back road to the garage it's housed at Sod reversing it all the way to the end through the undergrowth! I un-hitched and walked it down An ever so nice chap Robert arrived half hour later to sort out after gassing With the mother of the original owner who has sadly passed away hence the workshop clear out. Single handed loaded it up as Robert had recently hurt his back and I couldn't get anyone to help me this weekend, oh well got cracking and wasn't too bad as trailer was nice and low and nearly same level as workshop floor! Lucky indeed. So rolled it on. Along with the lathe I made a deal for a load of other tooling including milling cutters, vices, motor, grinder, reamers, cabinet ....... All sorts. As it all had to go. So I'm one happy chappy, they were happy it's going to good home to be used again, and not a dealer to make an easy profit on. But for me even hiring the trailer and diesel has come to just under what the little ml7 went for. really pleased I have an upgrade that has just cost me my time! Not bad for a random eBay punt as the harrison is a grands worth all day long as uts hardly worn, just filthy. Few more pics of single handed unloading, which wasn't too bad, take your time, think it through, bit at a time. Didn't need the crane either, just some 1 1/2" heavy tube, crowbars, 8x2 timber and brute force! Pretty pumped Adonis after all that shifting! Bit of struggle, push a bit, lift a bit jack it, lower it........ ..........20 mins later wer're in Will get a few more pics of the beauty later once my little one has gone to bed, needs a damn good clean down and sort through all the goodies Also if anyone is interested there is a single phase donkey hacksaw available If anyone interested I can pass on Roberts details to auve a chat with him.[/QUOTE]

Picked this 10" rotary table up for the mill too this afternoon, should come in handy for many a task. Just waiting on the correct paint for the lathe now and get cracking sprucing it up. Some may ask why I'm not working on the manta, quite simply a little break and getting the workshop more organised and tooled how i want it
