^^ That's the one, course it wouldn't need the blower, especially if you wanted to run the sort of wheels fitted to a mid 80s Cavalier 1.6L estate, but still.. There was a Lancia Thema estate sold in Italy - useful looking thing. Yeah, just seen a few pics of that. There was a Fiat version called the Chroma and the considerably better built Saab version but they didn't do the estate - a couple of home made estates exist, I think the early upright 9000 front on the estate, with the Ferrari V8, would be an interesting motor. Especially breathing through some stacks.

I've always fancied the idea of an LS-powered Carlton or Omega estate. The latter should'nt be too hard what with the Aus Holden stuff. Can't really think of anything else that hasn't already been done.
Was there a mk2 Golf in the States with a Caddy Northstar FWD V8?

Some great replies on here! a couple of Estates i didn't even think of.
The front wheel drive v8 polo sounds mental!
I initially thought the Focus because i have one that doesn't owe me anything and i got the feeling that theres enough room for a prop shaft anyway and the V8 from watching videos (depending on engine and gearbox)... think someone asked earlier if i had any fabricating skills? the answer is i've never undertaken a project and this would be probably the worst, just an idea but, someday soon i'd like to restore or modify something for sure.
Obviously a RWD car would be the best to do this though... i think if i was going to the lengths of cutting up a focus I'd rather do a mk3 Escort but i just thought the Focus would be less to mod.
i looked up some of the kits and they do cost a fortune and theres a review of the Krugel one here :http://www.automobilemag.com/features/racing/0506_ford_focus_v8/conclusion.html

quite rare? dunno, only problem i can think of. I didn't mean find a genuine XR8...Another alternative is use an adapter plate to mount a Rover V8 to either a Type 9 or MT75. In fact you could use a 4x4 as a base as that has a variant of the MT75. Google shows there is a firm who have developed an adapter. A bloke I studied with in the 90s had a Rover V8 in a Sierra estate. He started with a really rotten estate, said he didn't think it would work as well or he'd have used a decent one. After it failed the MOT, he put the same package in a MkII Escort and, err, stacked it in some trees.

Vauxhall Chevette estate. There's a car that didn't get the love it deserved, even if it was only a 3dr. Set of Comp MLs and a Corvette lump, the small block 7.0 LS7 out of Z06 should do.

Volvos are an excellent candidate and were very commonly done in Australia a few years ago. There's plenty of room in the engine bay for either a Chev or Ford small block, room in the tunnel for the matching trans and the existing Volvo diff is even strong enough for the task, as long as you're not launching it at the drag strip.
