Don't know if this is the right place for this, but time will tell. I've just been reading about the Bedford Harrington Legionnaire which featured in the original Italian Job film. Turns out it was pushed back into service after the film (the bus operator only loaned it for filming). If you look at the joining strip between the two rear screens, it's thicker than it would have been before conversion - a subtle clue about how it was hacked around for filming. Before: During: After: Interesting thread here: linkyFeel free to other photos to the thread; I'm waiting to see if anyone adds any 60's Americana in the meantime!

As a professional coach driver spoiled by automatic gearboxes, one-finger steering, ABS and retarders that feel like hitting a wall, I have a deep fascination with old buses/coaches.
The first company I worked for had a 1974 Bristol VR that was the most god awful heap - you steered it mostly by sheer force of will. I'd love to own an old bus, but they really are the most gigantic money pits. By dad is getting a third-scale, ride-on Bedford OB Duple, which is much more sensible. Well, as sensible as these things get...

Something about these old coaches I had very fond memories of having day trips when I was a kid by the Globelle (I think its spelt like that) coach company based in Friar Park, having warm cheese and tomato sammies half way to Skegness and tipping the driver on the way back home, putting your loose change into the flat cap of some old veteran
