It is with regret that I am going to have to part ways with my W140, after owning it for three years. I have lost my storage space so it has to go, The car runs and drives absolutely spot on, the only thing that appears to have stopped functioning correctly are the indicators - Suspected relay (I have now sorted this and the car will be sold with 12 months MOT) Everything on this car works as it should and it is an absolute pleasure to drive with the 4.2 V8 pulling it along effortlessly. I drove this car to Germany and back in July 2013 and did over 1200 miles in a weekend with not one fault. There is no rust on any of the arches and the car is in very good condition for the age - with a minor spot of lacquer peel on the bootlid (about 8-10cm long) which you cant see when its polished. Specification as Follows: 1992 J reg 400SEL (W140) Full Mercedes Service History Nautic Blue Metallic Paint Full Mushroom leather Electric sunroof electric front seats and steering wheel Electric rear blind double glazed windows electronic reversing rods soft close doors Air Conditioning with climate control (which works as it should!!) full size spare wheel original Blaupunkt stereo Was serviced just before the trip to Germany including spark plugs and has had the coilpacks replaced. the car is spot on and everything works as it should! Try the hazard switch several times,quite often you find the indicators work again,if not replace it,that should solve the problem,a new one of gsf used to cost less than a tenner a few years ago,as its common i always keep one in my toolbox,good luck.

Now that you have uploaded the photos, I realise that this is my old car!
Is the mileage around the 200k mark? If so, it definitely is my old one. Lovely motor and one of the earliest W140s, being on a 'J' plate.
I sold it around 2010 / 2011 to a chap who came from Manchester to pick it up. Nice to see it is still around.

psycosis that is correct, think its on 218k and still runs like a dream, I don't really want to sell it but no longer have the storage space I used to... I got it from a chap up in Yorkshire in early 2013... Sure you don't fancy buying it back? haha.

218k sounds about right, and it's just running in for one of these W140s!

E46 sport touring. All the toys. 176K on the clock but as with any well looked after derv motor you'd never know it. MOT up in a month or so, may fail on the rear trailing arm bushes which want doing... which I have already bought in advance but not had a chance to fit as I was in 2 minds about fitting coilovers while I was at it. Has a parrot hands free which was professionally fitted and has saved me no end of license of endorsements. Other than that it's stock as a rock and a pleasure to be in. With the limited miles I do, I want something retarded to drive in my life.   |
