Yeah the mirrors are a pain in the backside, can hardly see anything out of one of them xD they're getting changed to chrome soon and the roof is ace, I have it open even when its cold. She is in reasonably good nick considering her age, there are a few dodgy repairs which I've tried not to highlight in the photo's hehe. But they'll be sorted when the time comes.

Oh yes, another Toledo...!!! Absolutely cracking cars that work their way into your heart (and then your wallet!) pretty darn quickly. I really like the look of yours and I am infinitely jealous of that superbly large sunroof! If you haven't done so already I strongly advise you to make yourself known on the superb Triumph Dolomite Club forum... forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/...as they will do all they can to help you keep your little Triumph on tip-top form! It really is a great forum to be part of (much like this one of course!) and you will not regret it for one second! Anyhow, please do keep us all posted on progress of this superb little buzz-bomb!!

wahaay another tolly looks a minter to boot aswell

+10% torque across the rev range. Got fed up of the salt on the roads making my screen dirty so.. raided my VW parts bin to create electric powered screen wash as the finger pump was rubbish only really squirted the blades when moving. Routed new screenwash pipes to be heated via the water pipes going into cabin for cold days.

Nice little motor.
I have a Dolly 1300, it is by far the least reliable, most temperamental and most irritating car I have owned. It hates starting in any weather, the wiring for the starter motor catches fire, the radio cuts out, the engine dies in hot weather, when I jack it up the sills crunch, the clutch biting point is on the floor, the handbrake doesn't brake, it is about 70 shades of green, it snapped a rocker arm 800 miles into my ownership and blew the head gasket 300 miles after I rebuilt the top end and now that is sorted it's developed a knocking from the crankshaft and routes all of it's oil directly out of the exhaust...
I do hope your experience of the Triumph OHV engine in small saloon guise is less... Challenging!
(On the plus side it'll do 35mpg+ if you don't mind 55mph, they handle quite nicely for a 40 year old design and there must be something about them as mine is hibernating in the garage rather than having being pushed into the harbour months ago...)

Good, another Toledo! Quite a few on here now, mine being the most dis-mantled I believe Yours look realy quite nice anyway, and I am infinitely jealous of the Webasto as it's something I've always wanted for mine! As previously mentioned by Grifterkid, make sure you get yourself on the TDC Forum, the advice and help from the guys on there has helped me many a time, not to mention there's always some cool Toledo accessories popping up for sale on there Anyway, I hope you continue to enjoy the car as much as the rest of us Toledo owners, and keep the pictures coming too! Dan

What a cool car. Never heard of the Toledo, did it come after the Dolomite? Or is it a smaller version? Looks in amazing condition. Before the Dolomite, in 1970 I think. The Toledo was Triumph's base spec saloon for the early 70s, then it was the Triumph 1500 and then the range topping "Dolomite". In 1976 they rationalised the range to all use the same bodyshell and name and we got the Dolomite 1300 replacing the Toledo, the Dolomite 1500/1500HL replacing the 1500 and the Dolomite 1850HL replacing the "Dolomite". Most of the drivetrain, the engine and quite a lot trim is shared with the Dolomite 1300, the most obvious difference is it has a much shorter boot. Triumph's small saloon range is just a mess to try and understand, but there is a handy chart here for people who are interested!

Should make it much more reliable even though I don't really have any running issues at the moment, when I got her she had more leaks than an old lady's bottom and stank of petrol. She does still have a small oil leak from the back corner of the head but I've heard its common place in the OHV's.
Something like this is how I want her to end up If you don't watch petrolicious video's already where have you been?!!? they're amazing.

So, I've ordered a full polybush setup front and rear, new tie rods, polybushes for the steering rack, a new rocker cover and cap as the one I have is horrendous and a new speedo cable. Here is a shot of the engine whilst me and my brother were checking fluid levels and filters.

Looks like you've got a pretty solid piece of Triumph there sir!
Where did you order your Poly bush kit from? I really do need to get one for my Toledo but the cost scares me a bit as I hear that fitting bushes can be a bit of a headache!!!
I like the plans you have for the engine, it should liberate a little bit of extra power which is always nice!

Funnily enough, I ordered them straight from polybush. Just rang them up, asked them what they had and decided on the ones I wanted. I know other people use powerflex which are just as good, Red and Blue bushes are always the ones to go for. The dolly kits from Rimmers have a few questionable quality yellow bushes, I read a few reviews where they don't last quite as long as they should. As far as I'm aware the tolly and dolly suspension systems are 95% the same apart from the width of dampers and springs, being larger on the dolomite. Watch out for early and later sets as the later ones come with more bushes so I assume the setup was changed after '76. I'm hoping the engine will be a little bit more sprightly, I'm not after crazy bhp just yet just some nice noises and sorted handling. I'll be getting AVO fully adjustable coils as soon as I can afford a set, as you can see my current springs aren't exactly pretty and are softer than melted marshmallow. Makes a comfortable ride but scary unpredictability on country roads.

I'm expecting more than a little resistance from the old bushes let alone fitting the new ones.

captains70s thanks for the history lesson and chart.
In my experience fitting the ploys is much easier than removing the old ones. On my cars I was able to fit all the ploys with just a small arbor press.

Sorry for poor lighting in the photo's but its all I can do since the suns gone down. One of the two deliveries arrived. Deliveries from Rimmer's are always top drawer.
