friend of mine is planing on swapping everything from an old s2000 he has got hold of to his viva. Any one see any problems aside form the usual tunnel change, mounting sub frames and wearing. e.g reasons why it would deffo be too much off a ball ache?
thanks

Might be easier to simply put the Viva shell on the S2000 floorpan. BTW do you mean a Honda S2000 ? Quick look shows even the "old" versions still demand strong money so he might be better selling the car whole and sourcing something that would adapt to the Viva better.

Back in 2009 (ish) chap turned up at a RRG with a Midget with an S2000 engine and box shoehorned in - it's a tall engine but it fitted in that - went like the proverbial......

yes!!! found out saterda from wheel hub to wheel hub the s2000 has a wider wheelbase width than the vivas by 8inches! so change of plan i have to find a floating rear axle capable of preferably 400+bhp to account for any future mods to the engine possibly 3l capri rear axle or old volvo floating axle with disk brakes, its just trying to find one:/

Would the track width matter if you're going to do such a grand job?

I've got an F20 in my AE86 Corolla. The engine and gearbox are fitted with a custom prop to the standard corolla live axle, albeit with a 2way diff.

I think a Volvo axle would need narrowing. Not too difficult and plenty of articles / firms to help. With that in mind, seeing you'd have to narrow anyway, have you considered a US axle ?

How about a capri axle? or a escort axle? Remember its not power that kills the axle and halfshafts etc its the amount of grip the rear wheels have so with road tyres you shouldnt have much bother unless your going down the quarter mile with slicks on. also using a ford axle there is more choice of up rated parts and LSD's etc

Westfield are now using the S2000 engine/gearbox in their 7 clone kit car. As has been said it's a tall engine & there's a lot of bulge on the Westfield bonnet. I visited the factory with the Westfield club (my friend has a one & invited me along for the day) & one of the chaps had a go in the car ...... Apparently it went very well - something of an understatement I should think! From memory Westfield had to modify various bits & bobs to get the engine in but the results were worth it. They've also started using MX5 running gear (diffs, hubs, engines, gearboxes etc) as the Sierra stuff is getting harder to find/more expensive - makes sense really as running, but bodily suspect, MX5's are cheap at the mo & their reliabilty is legendary.
I like the Midget - looks like a mini TR6 :-D
As for whether the S2000 engine/gearbox will fit in a Viva - time to get the measuring tape out :-)

I'm putting a Beams toyota engine (not too dissimilar to F20c) in my Daihatsu Charmant (corolla chassis) , i'm using a rear axle from a nissan Vannete as its narrow and has an 8 inch (or bigger) diff. 4.1 ratio (same as the donor car)

the F20c fuel injection manifold sits very high so this will also cause issues in a shallow engine bay. the way i got around this was to make a lower inlet manifold. it'll knock a little bit of power off as there is more of an angle to the head but at least i don't have to have a stupidly big bump in the bonnet
