New project bought last month, Chevy S10 model SS, 4.3 V6 auto, LSD back axle, 200BHP, lots of sideways fun:D:smoke: I was going to fit a 351 Cleveland to my Galaxie and an LSD back axle then drag race it. But decided to keep the Galaxie as straight 6 motor and turn it into a low rider:cool: on air bags (but that's the other thread) Anyhoo, que the truck, named 'Truck Norris' by PO. Picked it up from Turo, cornwall and drove it home no problems, even got flagged down by someone want to buy it off me. Body work needs a little work, few dings etc to sort out. It was imported new to the UK in 1998. Plans are to repaint in black with silver or red stripes, change the seats as they are too tall and bulky hence limiting leg room. Drop the suspension a few more inches and then have some fun.

niiiiice! absolutely love those, certainly wouldn't mind one. My dad's mate had an earlier one of these and got it running 10 second quarters, absolute animal of a truck. Also left rubber down my road that were visible for a good 8 months

Springs back on, axle back on, propshaft back on. Now just got to clean and paint all the small parts and brackets and refit. Remaking the rear hard brake lines as I kinked one of the lines :sniff: Even had time to polish 1 of the rims:smoke: Next step is to clean and paint the underside of the rear bed with a few localized repairs to the bed cross sections

Cool truck you've got there matey. My father-in-law who lives in Canada has a Silverado Z71 with the 6ltr Vortec V8. I love driving it lol. As for your rebuild I have to salute you in a BIG way. Why, because your using sating black chassis paint. I never understand why people use gloss paint on the chassis as the surfaces are never flat and the reflections pick up any defect. Satin looks so much better IMO so keep up the good work.

The passenger side door was full of filler approx 20mm deep in parts and made that nice thud like it was made of wood. Had a chance contact from a PO on here that owned the truck when the door got damaged. . I wasn't sure how it had happened,? Assumed some sort of parking damage. Anyway having spoken to the PO appears the old boy nextdoor to the PO had a funny do and reversed his car through the fence and into the truck Aslo explains the dent halfway up the door frame, the PO explained he fitted a new mirror from USA. Armed with this I decided to dig in and find out what the PO after the one above did to repair the door. Stripped the filler off to find they had just sliced the door in 2 place , pulled out strips of the bent door bar and put fillet all over, not even welded up the cuts:eek: You can still just see the vertical lines with filler in them in the photos below I decided rather than try to weld up the door and sort it, it would be quicker and a better job to source another door. The PO said its the same as the Uk imported Blazer. So off to my local scrappy and they have one in  Going to strip it down sort out a few parking dings, repaint the door shuts and inside black, then hang the door and swap all the elec windows, glass and door handles over.

Funny to see one of those over there. Not bad little trucks, they're well-loved here, they just keep on going and going. I have the detuned version of that engine in my works van... it's wheezy, noisy and doesn't make a particularly good job of providing speeds in excess of 80... I hear the SS is a little more lively, should be seeing as the S10 weighs next to nothing by truck standards here.
Also, gotta love GM parts-bin interchangability, hm?

Bit more done tonight, drivers door outer finished, just need to paint inside black before fitting. Front wing dent filled and whilst in the area welded the radio aerial hole for a cleaner look. made a new side exit exhaust with a flowmaster 40 series box. found another nice dent in the B post behind the door, dug out the old filler that wasn't keyed in properly, roughed it up with the sander and refilled. not bad for a couple of evenings work:tup: Next up, few repairs on underside of bed on cross beams, rust treat and paint then refit the bed.

Swapped the door over tonight, went a lot easier than I thought Swapped over the door shell then transferred the window, seals and motor over. Just got the lock and handle to do tomorrow. Then it's on to getting the rear bed sorted, needs a few welding repairs then painted and back on. Hopefully back on the road in march. Old door off New door on
