Heya All!
I figured I've got to celebrate getting Odie back on the road, and also my own Imp50 celebration.
And its a race, from Manchester to Glasgow!
Basically Vicki, my girlfriend, and two of her friends are booked to get the 9:16am train from Manchester Piccadilly to Glasgow Central Stations on 21st December to go to a panto, I'm going to drop her off at the station, and race her to Glasgow station in Odie. The train is a straight through, they haven't got to make any changes.
Her train takes 3 hrs 13mins. My road route takes 3 hrs 18mins!!
Now to make it fairer on me I do get a headstart, as I've got to cross Manchester traffic, and she hasn't.
Also I'm using this as a way to raise money for charity (I plan on doing many more random challenges like this) What I'm suggesting is this, pledgebet however much you want, on either the train winning or me winning. Or can do a either way bet on top, soo say you bet £5 for me to win, if I do win it'd be a £5 donation. But if the train wins you'd be pledging £2.50. Sound reasonable?
Also there are a couple of exceptions, basically if my Imp breaks before then then all pledgebets are off, and if the weather is too adverse the same, all pledgebets are off (the train is a definite obviously!)
the charity I've chosen for this Macmillan Cancer Support. I've chosen this one because both Vicki & myself have lost grandparents to cancer, and they were a great help to my family in the last few months of my Grandfathers life.
I'm mainly running this on facebook, but also sharing it over any forum's I'm on For those of you on there the facebook event page is here (with a bit more details & more updates): www.facebook.com/events/613901885322974/
& my challenges page is here: www.facebook.com/pages/Violets-Bet-Pledge-Challenges/558452140898981
thanks Violet

Go on then, £10 if you win (£5 if it's the train). Just make sure you win - legally of course, we don't want you getting points on your licence

I don't do Facebook either but can do Paypal. I'll donate whether you beat the train or not. I'm a big fan of Macmillan. This is us around 2/3 the way through the Mac 4x4 Challenge a few years ago just before heading on up the Elan Valley in S. Wales

I'm not taking any money yet, what I've done is set up a JustGiving page, which I'll link out after the event
What you do now is state how much you're wagering, and wether its for the Imp, the train or Either way
Also I have a MASSIVE announcement to make, coming next week!

What panto? Kings, Citizens, Pavillion or Armadillo at SECC? If its the SECC then save yourself £6 parking and park in West Greenhill place (free after 6pm); goo.gl/maps/4rKSAHappy to help with fastest routes and parking to make your chances as good as possible. Dave.

xXx JustGiving works okay for me. So as to be seen as entering into the spirit of the thing, I'll have 25 quid on ther train and 25 quid on the Imp, so 50 notes no matter who wins. Good job I don't try to run a bookies!

Just had a thought, you should post this on a trainspotting forum, to get some bets on the train
