I was there today too. Had a great day bar the wind! There were some supercool cars, more for my want list. The 'tina is owned by mick rogers, here is his site: www.powernotpaint.co.uk/project.htmThe viva you talk about is actually a firenza. It run with a turbo vaux red top, I can't find any pics at the moment but here is the creator's site, it can just be seen at the bottom of the first page. www.wackyracers.org.uk/index.htm

The Cortina as stated belongs to Mick Rodgers, and is Cossie powered, if I remember correctly it's the fastest 4 pot in the country. The Viva belongs to Wacky Mick, and is the fastest Vauxhall pot in the country. The whole point of these two is to curse word off the hot hatch curse word, with cars that look like cack, but go like curse word off a shovel.

Yeah, Mick Roger's Cortina is the original drag-rat whatever. Been about at least 10 years, I have a Street Machine feature on it from waaaaay back. Has run fairly low 10s IIRC.

The Firenza is cool, but the Cortina takes the win imo......the firenza gives too much away. I was there today too. Had a great day bar the wind! What were you in? I was in the rather slow series 1 rx-7.

There are several Mitsi Evo/Escort Cossie type vehicles claiming 9s but don't seem to do them as street legal spec, on street tyres... This is where the difference comes in and where the arguements start.

This is where the difference comes in and where the arguements start. Nobody mentioned full street spec. But actually yeah, there are some in the UK in full street spec with faster times. No tubbed arches either, so quite possibly more "street"

Micks cars done 10.59@134mph Off the top of my head i can think of... The old Norris Evo7 has done 10.36@142mph The current Norris Evo9 has done 9.71@147mph and IIRC has ran faster than 9.5 since, but too lazy to go check as even the old time is fast enough. Both of the above on low profile Avon road tyres. Fensport Corolla has done 10.39@137mph, again on low profile street tyres. Kev Sharps old EscCos has done 10.4@ on standard road tyres (hell, standard wheels). RC Developments have ran v.low 10s in their Evo6, i know they did 10.34@134 once, but I'm pretty sure it did 10.1s or 10.0 if i could be arsed to check. The Zen Scooby has done 9.63 quarter and like the Corolla and Evos already mentioned, is a Time Attack track car, nowehere near a drag car. Pretty sure there loads more, but I'm too lazy to look, these are just ones i remember. Could argue that Andy Forrests Impreza is another to add with a 9.19 at 158.5mph (and some 163mph terminals in the past too) but as he runs with no wing mirrors some might cry "not road legal" on it, so wont bother.

Oh, the Fensport Celica has also done 10.56s too, now i think about it.
And I'm pretty sure there at least 1 Cossie powered Mk2 Escort with normal non tubbed arches thats done 10.4s or faster.
Specs shouldnt be hard to look up on the net, but...
All the above are 4wd with manual non-sequential boxes.
All the above have full dashboard, no spaceframing, fully road legal, normal (non wrinklewall) tyres, etc etc.
The Fensport cars are semi-stripped (all carpet, rooflining, door cars, rear trim, etc remaining) and have 600-650bhp each.
The 1st Norris Evo was 700odd bhp, as is the Zen Scooby, the other Evo mentioned are somewhere in the 800+ range.
Kav Sharps Escort was about 550bhp.
All were originally 2litre turbo engines, some bored to 2.3-2.3.
Only Kev Sharp using nitrous.
