When I worked for Ford about 10 years ago they still had the old colours available to use to paint a van if you so wished... That meant that you could order your Transit van in Olympic Blue or Sahara Beige not too long ago...!!! Your van looks the business and seeing as I'm local(ish) to you I hope to see it at some juncture...! You may hear me before you see me, it decided on a delete option for the rear silencer last night as I was going through Crawley, Its no noisier without it though but have just been given a 3" bore silencer to see if I can set it up as a sidepipe

Came upto Derbyshire for a few days to visit my family and get the van tested. Had a good clear run up the motorway and arrived running well - I don't have a good track record when it comes to the Mk2 and the M1. Got a tailpipe made up and passed the MOT on Tuesday, on the way back from the test it dropped onto 3 cylinders, pigging thing has burned another valve.... So spending the next few days stuck here waiting for hardened seats to be fitted and a new cam to be ground up from Piper cams. On the plus side I have got a chance to do a few bits of bodywork that I wouldn't otherwise have time for. Unfortunately having to spend on the pinto means a V6 conversion is going to be put in the back burner unless a complete on comes up cheap

Update time, finished fitting the unleaded converted head complete with new Piper BP255 hi torque cam (thank you for the recommendation Muttley:)) and a set of followers near Chesterfield at about 2:30 and arrived knackered back near Gatwick at 8:00, that included running the cam in for 20 mins at 2500rpm and re-setting the valve clearances!! Oh and a stop at Toddington Services for a quick check over and tighten a jubilee clip on a rad hose that was weeping. The head work has definately improved driveability didn't have to drop out of 4th once on the motorway and was a lot more willing to pull, I didn't have my full load of tools on board but there was still a fair bit of weight to drag along. Big thanks to Roger at Foxwood Boring and Grinding (Foxwood Diesels), Chesterfield for sorting the machining work and all the new parts. Yep thats right the rotten bit behind is the part with the vin number on it, don't want to be having welding and grinding showing round that really so left it for the time being Step welded, derusted, Jenolited and painted, got to clean off the overspray still Off with its head (again) New Parts Build up new head More pics of less rust now and we have side exit exhaust!

Are you still running the single choke carb on this ? I fitted a twin choke onto my Mk2 and it made a huge difference. I never really found a good air filter set up though as it was forever icing up in cold weather. The cam sounds like a good idea.

Still the tiny single weber, I've actually got an EFI inlet manifold to put on when I get a minute. I'm running a cone filter, haven't had any icing problems but I'm running gas rather than petrol

I take it you had to sit down as well when you saw what they sell for on ebay There's a chance someone might be doing some fibreglass copies will let you know if I hear anymore.

After all the drama it's now behaving itself, doing 70 miles a day at the moment. I finally got my Euroliners so have added a touch of shiney ness! Pictures now added using a proper computer I need some longer thread extenders making for the rears as i'm not happy they will be long enough. In other news I've got a TPS megajolt and I'm putting the parts together to get it running, also converting to a flat poly belt rather than the existing v belt, got the main pulley with trigger wheel attached but it needs machining to suit. Got an EDIS 4 and plug but just need coil pack and mount and crank sensor and mount and the associated plugs, breakers wanted a fortune (well more than I could buy new ones for without plugs) so if anybody has a dead ford going for frag locally I can pillage please let me know Also underway is installing a lamda feedback system to control the LPG, not sure how successful this will be but I had all the bits anyway so nothing to lose.

Keen to see the difference megajolt makes. Is there any way of getting it on the rollers as a "before and after"?

I'm hoping for a noticeable difference even if it's only in smoothness as I should be able to work a better advance curve for the gas.
If anybody knows a rolling road near me that would be happy to put it on and could fit it in size wise please let me know

Way cool!! If it was mine I would add some appropriate faded signwriting to the side but that's me. I believe tubular exhaust manifolds add to the torque production too if power is still an issue. If your going to add lambda sensors, it would be easy to do at the same time.

If anybody knows a rolling road near me that would be happy to put it on and could fit it in size wise please let me know I've used Classic and Race just south of Smallfield recently and highly recommend Andy www.classicandrace.co.ukWhether your van will fit in his shop I don't know, sure he'd measure up for you though. He sorted out my Volvo a treat

Just a quick update on this, still working everyday, gained a heated leather drivers seat in place of the original.
Blew a head gasket between 2&3 but still managed to get me home last October, a careful clean up and check and it was back on the road within a couple of days.
Getting a little smokey on start up but doesn't use any oil.
Fuel consumption varies between bad 18mpg and awful 14mpg for no reason I can find.

I see you some mornings on honeycrock lane. I'm the guy driving the other way in the silver Lexus estate with the horrific lacquer peel on the bonnet and the jealous look.
