Alexei Sayle had a 827 coupe one new... "Ullo John, gotta new Rover...?!"I think these are a great cruiser and the contemporary motoring press did too rating it quite highly against Mercedes and BMW in terms of fit, finish and equipment... They need to be saved and preserved before it is far too late!

Such a shame they have a B-pillar... You can't have frameless doors with a B-pillar, FFS! What were they thinking?? Apart from that, I quite like these. Though I've never been in one nor have I ever seen one on the roads over here ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

800 coupe code name Dragon. There was a convertible to, code name George. George and the Dragon. Rover execs had a sense of humour. Sadly convertible never made it to production. I was a young apprentice and remember seeing the convertible and hearing stories of the roof flying off on the m1 by one of the test drivers! I drove a turbo coupe to the scrap yard in gaydon, then at the end of j road, a light gravel test road on the test track , it had no exhaust on it. Massive wheel spin the full length of the road. The Tony pond 800 iom car was in the scrap yard not many years ago. Owned by the mechanic, it was slowly rusting away, I tried my best to buy it but he was having non of it.

You know, I'd never given these much consideration before now. There were a couple at the NEC Classic Car Show, and I had a good look around them purely because of this thread!

Would like a Vitesse one. I remember a mate getting humiliated by one in his redtop nova, priceless. He even had the cheek to say its because of me in the passenger seat.

The Tony Pond car was still alive and well just a couple of years ago being used for track days etc, I have a couple of pictures somewhere. I am a total fan having owned most versions and still running a turbo fastback.

I saw one of these on the M25 yesterday and it was striding along at quite a fair old lick!!! It looked very good indeed and I have to say that it'd be quite nice to nab one whilst they're still relatively cheap...

Fast. Cheap.
And fast. I've driven both 800Vitesse and 620ti both of which are magic. Ask any 90's traffic cop about them and they go mental (allocate an extra few hours to your day in this case) as they rated them very highly
