As standard the k10 comes with a 1.0 or 1.2 8v, the bubbles' 1.0 or 1.3 16v is a completely different engine isn't a straight swap but will go in with a bit of work, I think one of the engine mounts needs a bit of adjusting and I think you also need custom drive shafts. K11 front hubs fit on the k10 given you a huge range of bigger brakes from 1.4 sunny to pulsar gtir stoppers. I think a 1.3 16v on bike carbs would be ideal for a k10 Regards the crashworthyness, they are rather flimsy but I doubt you'd be much better off in crash in any other similar aged supermini metro, fiesta, nova, uno etc, at least the micra wont be as rusty

aye, matts on the button with that about the engines. The mounts have to be modified, no simple swaps i'm afraid although the "big block" 1.2 litre is meant to be a spritely performer in comarison to the 1.0. 9 BHP extra may not sound much, but my povo spec LS weighs in at a rather heilium filled 660 KGS according to the literature i've read. I also agree with matt on the best engine choice. I'd want a 1300 twin cam (CG13 I think the code is), but on throttle bodies and a megasquirt. But as this is my "retro motor," I fancy having a play with a pair of SU's on the standard engine just for shats and gaggles. If the car last long enough for me to have a play that is Ah the famous silly K12, IIRC that started out with a 300 BHP primera touring car 4 cylinder (unless that was a different car of course). Seen it in the flesh, pretty mental!

Well mr Phooey, one thing you should know about this forum is that you are allowed an opinion as long as its the same as Hotwires or Slaters. Actually you are wrong,.. the only person that matters is me ... Why no K11s so far??

There was a K10 on the bay a little while ago (link in ebay thread). Which had a 1.6 twin cam on Bike carbs. Looked pretty sweet.

I'm with Pog on this. I'll look at a thread on Micras cos, hey it might be interesting, but in general I know what it will throw up. Some cars with stretch 13's, some nato cars, some ratters, some j's.
As far as I'm concerened it's all meh, cos I'm not into Micra's and I think the euro look does nowt for me on any car really. Looks silly on a Micra, silly on a metro, silly on a golf. But thats' just me, I know it floats most other people boats, which is all OK.
The whole list of "looks" that i'm not really into is pretty huge. However I do enjoy the enthusiasm, the skill, the workmanship and the sheer creativity be that the best evar execution of a rat look 50's yank tank or even nailing a touring car rear wing under the front bumper of a Calibra.

This post has made me realise that i don't really share the same opinion as most of the people on here. The fact that Alastair puts a thread about George and Sam Barris's kustoms and only gets 8 comments yet this one about Nissan Micras gets lots of people excited i find worrying. Perhaps the Show fields of the future will have lots of little bland hatchbacks lowered with wide wheels on instead of people building the beautiful Kustoms that have been around for the last 50 - 60 years. I also saw slaters post where he said that todays custom cars are boring and we should be building stuff like his car. Personally, i believe that if you park a metro next to a 32 ford or even 70's style Pop as was mentioned, the Metro wouldn't get noticed. If i'm wrong then maybe its time for me to take up fishing instead.

Maybe you should embrace the whole scene and find out what you do like,.. if Micras arn't your thing then there isn't a problem with that (unless you are going around telling people they shouldn't bother modifying them ) ... but there has to be something outside of trad-custom, hot rod and Kustom stuff that interests you, or you wouldn't have found your way here, you'd have stuck around HAMB or NSRA forums?? The 'Retro scene' IS this melting pot.. people with hot rods engaging with people modifying Escorts, meeting people doing J-look on cheap Japanese cars.. and all points in between.

not fishing. You'll just get into rows about which flys are the best and whether to use traditional or synthetic materials for them. Believe me, its not pretty. You don't want that.
Theres a lot of other stuff - not just Micras - and a good chunk of this thread has been an arguement anyway.
There was apoiint, was it the late 80s, the early 90s I forget, people said that shows of the future would be such and like and whatever because of legislation/enviornment/inavailability of the "right" tin to build with and now look, its easier now to buy a classic, a rod, a custom, a yank, an aussie or some weird thing from Japan than its ever been. Internet and cheap shipping have really helped, plus a healthy (enthusiast lead) aftermarket.
Get down Wheels Day I'm sure there will be plenty of interesting stuff.
And this forum isn't 100% of the 15-35 year old generation of car enthusiasts anyway.

Sorry, not doing wheels day this year as Humper is not on the road and don't want to take modern car there. Hope the weather is better than last year though for those of you that go. I'm now going to put a couple of posts on the 'Barris' thread to even it out a bit. Then i reckon thats it for me and R-R. Cheers Guys.

The fact that Alastair puts a thread about George and Sam Barris's kustoms and only gets 8 comments yet this one about Nissan Micras gets lots of people excited I find worrying. I see what ya saying, i think its all about discovering realistic projects. its gets people excited to the options they have and ideas thay can throw at it. Theres 11 or 12 pages of the Sierra thread, but IIRC theres no new owners on here apart from Will, just the same old dudes. Hot Rods have been and done... and i bet theres a lot more to do . parts of the community are hard to approach, an full of opinions, they are not that realistic due to costs and skills needed. And I reckon a lot of members on here, have memories of some random cars from the 80's and 90's from their childhoods, teens etc, maybe a Rod to them is a novelty car, they like em but they are out of reach. Just a few ideas. I cant say i'm mad on some cars, but tehres occasionally one that gets me daft ideas

They'd respond well to the normal euro-VW touches - low, wide wheels with stretched tyres, bright colour, rolled arches, trim removed, that sort of thing. The basic shape isn't a bad one at all, I always think they're a bit fussy at the rear, but I'm sure that could be sorted.

I always think they're a bit fussy at the rear, but I'm sure that could be sorted. Looks like they come with a ready-built swallowtail! This fresh in from my autoshite thread. Not immediately sure what you could do to tidy it up.
