I am almost tempted to make my mate an offer on this thats how good this is. A chum of mine has a jolly matey who runs a dealership or something. Anyway this doctor had been having his new Sierra serviced there and then one day the automatic trans had a fault - the car was parked up and left. Not sure how long its stood but a couple of years. The doctor doesn't want the car back, signs it over to the garage in lieu of storgae fees and my mate then buys it sight unseen as a donor car for his kit car project. Well, the car arrives and its far too nice to chop up. Its a 1983 Sierra 2.0 Ghia on a Y plate, one of the very first (apparently) and aledgedly has all the options possible except for the V6 and the alloys. Mind you I don't think there were THAT many options back in 1983. But sod me theres not a spot of rot on this car anywhere. I only looked at it in the yard and I was well impressed even under a layer of grime and what have you. The paint is unmarked. Not even stone chipped. Its got 25K on the clock from new and FSH and the interior is like taking a trip back to the days of Spandau Ballet. Its like new. Iyts not just nice and tidy, it really is like new, got the whole time capsule vibe going on. Remember those 3 slot hub caps these things had? Yeah, even got a full set of them in mint condition (tied on with copper wire LOL) ran my hands round the wheel arches, pure virgin steel. No paint lifting. even round the window fromes where Mk1 Sierras rotted badly, its mint. The engine runs sweet as a nut, the trans worked well after a filter change and new ATF but has since packed up again. My mates going to give it a proper flush and another new fluid as he thinks its just cack in the fluid causing the problem. If not he's going to pop a 5 speed box in it and do a manual conversion. Some pix (again shocking poor quality but you get the idea) The colour is actually a very pale blue metallic and is lovely. The interior is a dark grey with wood trim. One reason he has no need of a sierra donor is that his kit car is now Rover powered... Thats a Locost or something. I am kinda tempted to make him an offer on the Sierra although no doubt using it would rob some if its "specialness"...

V8 powered Robin Hood 2B (tuby ). Could be interesting as they aren't the stiffest chassis in the world! Along with sliding pillar front suspension its gonna be a bit of a handful.

^If the dash is not bright blue that is!
That sierra is awesome, it would have been a right travesty if that had been chopped up for a locost! What a honey.
You should defo put an offer in AK, having said that if you do the wiring loom will probably go up in smoke on your maiden voyage.

no idea if the "lotus style" kit is a Locost or what TBH.
The dash is dark grey, pretty sure of that, and IIRC its all unmarked like new in there. Some of tiwas covered with seat covers and stuff so I didn't see everything but I assume under the covers is as good as what was out on show.
What with the Mk3 Escort its obviously 80s Ford week in Notts!
Seriously, if anyone wants it LMK and I'll put you in touch, but seriously no time wasters, I don't think it will be "cheap" like £150 junk Sierra money but it won't be scene taxed to the hilt. Depends how much an MOT and the trans costs to sort out.

I would have thought that with the box sorted and a ticket it would make £700 or so on the bay if it is as good as you say, it certainly looks it.

I've not been under it, or even opened the bonnet, but I'm told its all as good as it looks. I wasn't going to get too close to the ground or to that Vauxhall Diddyvan, the rust on that thing looks infectious. Although that too will probably make it back to the road with an MOT... He just doesn't like to let anything die.

Is it deffo "saved" then? I cant afford to have retail money in it but i`ll put up suitable "bail" if it ever looks to be getting near danger of being a donor again or a similar fate.
don't want to sound like a pipe n slipper "we are just the custodians" purtitan or anything but in this case we are looking at something too special to be altered in any way, I reckon, exept for a manual box - that might even boost its appeal.
If it looks to be struggling to find a home let me know. Though I doubt it will.

not worth an awfull lot to be honest, my 3 door was in that sort of condition and still fetched under seven hundred quid, nice time warp car though, i'd buy it and store it somewhere, if it is cheap enough. it may generate some interest over on www.fordsierraclub.co.uk/forum/

It definitely deserves to be saved, and ideally left more or less standard. Sod whether that means it has much value or not, or if it can be broken for more than it's worth - if you let car enthusiasts and market forces dicate what survives then all that will be left are the sporting variants that were never that common when new. Perhaps it's just me, but that's not what I want to see.
