I've seen something else I fancy, so my 190e is up for sale. It's pretty much standard apart from 40mm lowering springs all round. Rather than listing everything I've done with it on here, it'd probably make more sense to just have a look at my thread for it: Mercedes 190e
There's not a lot wrong with it really, it judders a bit on full lock at parking speeds and sometimes using full lock straight after you start the engine from cold will make it stall, you just have to give it a bit of throttle. Also the exhaust manifold gasket is starting to go, so the exhaust is blowing from the join between the manifold and the head. Both front wings are rusty in the usual place, plus there's a bit of rust at the corner of the rear screen - it's all in the photos in the thread I've kept on it. Oh, and if I'm being really picky, one of the instrument cluster bulbs has blown but you can still see the gauges fine at night.
Having said all that, it's been a good car for me. One of the things that has struck me recently as it's started to get colder is that the heater is one of the best I've ever experienced, it gets up to temperature really quickly since I changed the thermostat and it gets stupidly hot. It's been reliable too, I'm taking it up to Bangor next weekend with every confidence that it will eat up the miles. This car is in its element doing stuff like that, I've taken it on several long journeys and it's excellent, comfortable and quiet. It managed just under 35mpg on the last long run I took it on (measured properly).
The pictures were taken when I bought the car, at the moment it looks like this, although I can take some fresh pictures soon:
I have 3 wheeltrims for it, one fell off so I took them all off. I also have a set of Mercedes 'Toliman' alloys for it, which I've mostly finished polishing up. They could go with the car for the right money.
That's about it really, I've got parts for a service on their way so it'll be freshly serviced for the new owner.
If there's anything I've missed out feel free to give me a ring, I'm after £500 for it, or would P/X with cash your way for a clean 4 cyl E36 coupe. I may consider other interesting swaps, although they can't be too pricey on the insurance.
Edit: service has been carried out, also new wiper motor and mechanism has been fitted as the old one packed up, can be an issue on these cars. Now works perfectly on all speeds. An issue that I forgot to mention is that the fuel gauge can be erratic below 1/2 tank, the reserve light is still accurate. I have a spare sender which I will fit before sale if I can locate a suitable spanner! Also, the boot seems to be getting slightly damp, not really sure where it's getting in but it's very slight, no puddles or anything. Just trying to describe the car as accurately as possible. I've just realised as well I completely forgot to mention the scrape you can see in the fourth picture, most of the damage is on the plastic 'sacco' panel which is easily removed/replaced. The dent in the actual bodywork is slight and should pull out, I haven't looked into it as it hasn't broken the paint.
Latest: Just noticed a fresh scrape along the passenger side rear quarter, the joys of living on a narrow road... Car now has a fresh MOT, I changed the exhaust manifold gaskets before the MOT and we went a bit crazy with the welder on the exhaust but really it needs a new centre section, I didn't have the time to sort it properly so it's currently sealed with exhaust putty... The hard part's done though, the studs for the manifold gaskets were a right PITA - none snapped off however and all reassembled properly. The advisories on the MOT are:
-Centre (and front pipe) exhaust has a minor leak of exhaust gases. Not particularly bad, blowing slightly but still nice and quiet.
-Back tyres near the limit, will try to find a decent pair of part worns tomorrow.
-Offside front tyre worn on inner edge.
-Outer sill covers fitted. These are a standard feature on these cars and I don't think they're hiding anything nasty.
The MOT was carried out by Motest in Reading, who I have found to be quite strict in the past so this should be a fairly decent assessment of the car's condition.
