Hope they bled you out properly so that the bad blood (that's why it goes dark) didn't hit you too hard. Apparently releasing it all back in to your blood stream in one go can be rather detrimental. Your heart can only take so many toxins at once.. I think he must go out of his way to get some excitement in his life. Better go back to working 10 months a year! For your health, of course.

"You got any leeches for this?" Nope, nothing like that. Just V8 rocker cover sized tablets. So just in case, I've prescribed some San Mig to dilute stuff. If I worked 10 months, the LTO would still lose all my stuff anyway.

Being as all the fambly are doing Filipina things this weekend, it's a good excuse for a solo roadtrip.
Around the corner from us is the Bataan peninsular which is not only reputedly very scenic, but also full of history as the site of the infamous Bataan Death March of US and Philippine POWs during WW2.
More story here for them's that are interested: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bataan_Death_March Anyway, this is the route I've have planned
My understanding is that the route is easy to Balanga and then gets more interesting as you head westwards. I'd wanted to do the road all the way round to the south but it appears that around 30kms of it can be a bit tricky for a single 4x4 and, having seen a YouTube clip of some having a go, I tend to agree. You are literally in the middle of nowhere on all dirt road full of washouts, downed trees and landslides. Not a good place to get stuck on your tod! Convoy fine, alone, probably not a good idea, especially now during the rainy season. Shame, it looks spectacular. Maybe another time...With company.
Anyway, with this in mind I'll cut over the mountains to Bagac instead and then head north up the coast towards Olongapo. It looks like Balanga to Vasco's will be around three hours of "mixed" roads. Let's see
Decided that rather than do there and back, I'll overnight here: www.vascosresort-museum.com/index.php Stopped for lunch before on a much easier highway trip over and it's a nice little spot. Oh, and the bar's open 24 hours. How can a girl refuse?
Out early Saturday, home Sunday Looking forward to it.

I would like to echo the comments of the Rt Hon Gentleman SmokeEm 'cos I couldn't have put it better myself. I'm quite envious, it looks lovely along the coast there. Have a jolly good trip and I'll look forward to reading about it soon. James

It'll be interesting as it's a couple of years since I last drove the San Fernando to Hermosa road. It's looks nice and straight, and it is, but was then still heavily affected by the 1991 eruption of the late Mount Pinatubo, which decided to wake up from 500 years of slumber and promptly blew its brains out. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Pinatubo The resulting lava flows and flooding (it was typhoon season as well - of course) combined to sweep many of the bridges away making it slow going through the reconstruction. And yes, that was 2013, 22 years after the eruption! The bang blew that much of the mountain away, it's now called Lake Pinatubo
After Hermosa, I'm into dark territory. The peninsular is reasonably well populated on the eastern side, but settlements drop away dramatically once you head west then north, so I'm hoping '38 will be on her best behavior, as there's little until you hit Olongapo/Subic.
As to food, if I remember rightly, Vasco's is owned by an Australian, which means that steak, pie and chips, etc., are the order of the day. But remember, a good pie is now an exotic food to me!
Air-con's been dead for a while now and I can't fix it until I have the wherewithal to repair the cracked front bumper. Besides I'm happier driving around with all the windows down. After all those years in the UK, the ability to do this virtually every day is still a novelty! Anyway, with the mountains and then running down the coast, it's not really necessary. I'll fix it one day.

Damn, there's always something. It's nearly 4am here and I should now be in the shower getting ready to roll. However, my ankle has other ideas. Four weeks ago now I had a piece of plate glass fall onto it badly splitting the skin and severing the vein. Two weeks ago, it got infected ad my foot came up like a balloon. Last week we got the swelling under control and the stitches came out last Sunday. This week it's been fine until yesterday afternoon when it started to hurt like hell again and the glands at the top of my right thigh became very swollen. oh goody, infection number two. So I'm now dosed up again with antibiotics the size of house bricks and certainly in no fit state to take on a six hour drive on what could be interesting roads, so I've had to cancel. Shame as I was looking forward to getting out of Manila, even if only for a short time. I'll try again in a couple of weeks. Won't post pics as some of you may be eating.

On second thoughts
Just in case you think I'm making this up.
This was last Sunday after the stitches were removed...
As you can see, they worked a treat
And this is this morning. Not much difference really

God what did they stitch it with used cat gut? That looks nastily infected, personally I'd be bathing it with salt water and using tea tree oil on it as well as the antibiotics

Aye, it's getting two salt water baths a day and I'm using ethyl alcohol as an antiseptic. They wanted me to use iodine but that dries 'wet', if you know what I mean, whereas the alcohol dries 'dry'. And dry is good. Tea Tree oil? Hadn't heard about that one, I'll have a look. Half the problem is the bloody flies. No, seriously. I'm supposed to keep it open now, but when I go out for a beer I need to put something on it or within seconds it's covered in the damn things and I must admit, I forgot again the other day. And I'm not too sure that a Lesser Spotted Manila 5hit Fly has the highest standards of hygiene. Edit, just had a look at tea tree oil and this made me smile Taking tree tea oil by mouth has caused confusion, inability to walk, unsteadiness, rash, and coma.
It's actually Red Horse beer!

Oooooph, bet that smarted a bit. I had some spanner slip the other week, took a big chunk of skin of the top of my thumb, clucking bell.
The scab went a funny colour, so I pulled it off. after that I could feel the skin shrinking to close the gap and you could almost see it creaping to close the gap.
I like the suggestion of salt water.
Was looking forward to the road trip, looked like a Version of the round Britain reliability run

To be honest, given the interest shown by the local insect life, I'm surprised I've not got them anyway. Oooooph, bet that smarted a bit. It's like watching mini tectonic plates on the move. The trip will be on again ASAP as the family tend to live the Lotus Eater lifestyle in leafy downtown Tondo at the weekends. Just need to get this cleared up first.

Hope you're okay. Boiled water and sea salt - 1tsp salt to 1pint of water. Let it cool to 'hot bath' temperature and then decant into a mug so you can press it against the wound and cover it completely allowing it to soak for five minutes twice a day. *n
