Martin, If you have a spare intake manifold, you should modify it like this to take twin SU HS2's: ![](http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc171/HockeyRoddy/20120715_125451.jpg) ![](http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc171/HockeyRoddy/20120715_125419.jpg) ![](http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc171/HockeyRoddy/20120715_125429.jpg) It might make a bit more power, and if it doesn't it will at least look a little racier. Rod, I had considered it, but it makes all the power an Austin 7 can take as it is. You have to supercharge an A7 engine to get anywhere near what these babies develop.
But I'm very interested in what you are doing with yours and which gearbox you're using, etc.
I'll PM you.
Cheers, Martin

Hi Rod and Martin,
I have read with interest your thread on the Austin 7 special with the FWM Coventry Climax engine fitted in it. I myself have recently decided on using an FWM engine but am really struggling to find any information on tuning it all, even down to what cylinder head gasket fits it, does the Imp head gasket fit or will I have to get one made I wonder?
If you guys can help out a little and advise I would be very grateful to you both. Rod I am very much liking your conversion on the inlet manifold to accept the SU carbs, I would like to speak to you about that and about what distributor will fit the engine and whether there is an aftermarket cam available for it? Also where can I source one of these engines from?
If you could both respond I would appreciate it.
Keep up the good work guys.
Regards

Unfortunately, I have lost my storage facilities and both the Austin 7 Cambridge and the Berretta have had to go. The A7 and all the CC FWM bits to a chap in Preston and the Berretta to a guy in Dunstable. The former deal went perfectly, the latter far from it. So I have lost my main hobby. The new English wheel might be used in a model boat project, but otherwise will probably only be used when I'm long gone, by my son.
It's a shame, but keeping the Landlady happy is priority.
All I can suggest, rangerboy, is to keep Coventry Climax on your ebay finder alert list. My second one came from a scrapper who dealt in ex MoD stuff, most of whom seem to be Ooop North. As to aftermarket stuff, I honestly don't think there is anything. However, the 750 Motor Club fellas in A7 Trophy racing are allowed to use FWMs and they do. I could never get any sense out of any I tried to contact. maybe see them in a paddock at a 750MC race meeting.
Cheers, Martin

Hi Martin, I saw a picture of the engine and bits and noticed it is the same water pump (I think) as in my old Riley Special. Do you know where I could get a replacement? The part numbers on the two casing parts are FW 2004 AP and FW 1035. Any ideas? Thanks
