Make sure you have no breather pipes attached to the manifold as this could cause pressure in the block. Also it could be blowing pressure past the rings due to slightly worn rings or the fact it's a high compression engine

def no breathers on teh inlet manifold. thats just got the hard pipe from teh turbo bolted onto it,nothing else. the hard pipe has a stub for the boost gauge and also theres the wastegate line to control the wastegate. the wastegate is bolted into one end of the turbo manifold and has the line running directly to the hard pipe( pipe that runs from the turbo to the inlet manifold) the guy I bought it from said it wasnt going to add tons of power

I bought one of these cheap (Saab 9-3 SE - 215bhp (I think))and had no intention of renewing the short MOT as the interior absolutely stank, so I took the B204R engine. The B204R is supposedly really tough, and han be tuned to 400bhp on standard internal components (though I wouldn't be going anywhere near that): I now realise putting an engine in underneath the car (subframe and all) takes 1/2 an hour. It took two hours of pain to get the smaller engine out of the Astra from above: I did all this in a space of a week, but have only really done small jobs on it since. I need to sort the wiring out, the only job left to do.

theres not really much of a breathing system, the oil filler cap has a metal wool type of packing at the top as standard but the n/s rocker cover just has a pcv valve. this runs to a catch can and then into the front of the inlet system just behing the su. its only plumbed like this as (me having no knowledge regarding turbos) assumed that this was how to plumb it in. I could disconnect the line from the catch can to the turbo and just run into a breather filter though and block the pipe that feeds into the inlet. there the only places I can see where the cologne can breath.ill call turbo technics during the week to see if they keep a record of what work they have done and ask if mine has the seals. I did explain the set up to the guy there as I presumed it was a more rare type of system. I woul;d defo blank off the pipe from the tank to the inlet. When you close the throttle there'll be a wicked vacuum.

going by the title i thought it was gonna be about stuff from the old days that was turbboed by the turbo specialists, stuff like granada and capri turbo conversions, brodie brittain with the mazdas and shoguns, the best one i ever saw done from new was a turbo on a 2.3 bedford cf,that thing was fast and used for newspaper deliveries and courier work back in the 80's and early 90's.......

I These engines rock I'm hoping to push mine to about 300bhp once I've fitted the new turbo and injectors. Mine was converted from a x20xev which had 130bhp, now pushing near 200bhp and about 220 torque

Well I think I might be the only one in this thread who added a turbo charged engine to a car and got LESS power than before!? Now: 3l Turbodiesel, 147HP. Before: 3l petrol, 179HP Yeah but how many torques are in there now?!? Plus, much better power to amount of fuel used ratio I'd imagine?

]Yeah but how many torques are in there now?!? Plus, much better power to amount of fuel used ratio I'd imagine? Not that much more; 273nm at 2400 vs. 255 at 4400 before... Which doesn't sound realy impressive. BUT: the diesel has a very soft torque converter. Which means the engine stays at it's maximum torque range for a very long time. At times it feels like driving a variomatic And this is a lot of fun and very convinient to drive! There's almost no lag. IMO a big turbodisel with automatic gearbox is just plain perfect for daily duties and very relaxed cruising! Milage... Hell yeah! From 26 to 37 in daily use. Records: 32 with the petrol - 45 with the diseasel All in all the turbodiesel feels much stronger and superior. And you very rarely need to rev it to more than 4000. I've not had a single tear over the "lost power"
