In this months Custom Car magazine is a great write up on a modified Tractor. The Ardbeg tractor was built by Burnham Autos and is fully road legal. www.ardbeg.com/ardbeg/tractourAny chance of it being at The Gathering next year?

Interesting. I've seen various flathead powered 'hot rod' tractors before, but seeing as this appears to have binned the normal unitary gearbox/chassis construction in favour of a conventional twin rail chassis, it seems much more hot rod masquerading as a tractor rather than the other way round. In a way I suppose it's the logical conclusion of the current gasser fad, as its basically a gasser 'digger' style rail.
That's an excellent little film too, very well shot. More brands need to start comissioning promotional vehicles like this again, it was the reason hot rods got so wild in the late 60s/early 70s, and there's a definite flavour of that period in this.

Very interesting, but the lack of engine noise in the video was a bit disappointing!

Interesting. I've seen various flathead powered 'hot rod' tractors before, ...... normal unitary gearbox/chassis construction You're right, obviously retaining original tractor structural drivetrain would not be easy but would be more interesting to see if done properly & making the most of that feature. edit, not tractor practice & probably not really possible with prop-shaft down the middle & diff raised by tall tyres, but would still love to see something similar down on the ground.

Been thinking for years that this sort of thing would be awesome, love it - plus a do like a drop of Ardbeg. Are Islay whiskey based colour schemes the in thing?!

Bet it's not "legal" in the true sense but rather either uses a pre 1960's tractor identity so no MOT or registered as an agri vehicle. To register a tractor for road use, instead of agri, requires all the VOSA / DVLA rules as if it was a kit car etc. Description says built on a 1959 Massey Ferguson 35 chassis. Funny as the MF 35 didn't have a chassis for anything to be built on ! Doesn't mean it isn't a fun vehicle though

Traditionally tractors are literally a 3-price-in-one-drivetrain with some steering attached to the front of the engine and a seat on the transaxle. No chassis.
