Hello guys
Sadly I think I'm going to have to sell my 2.6 manual Sportline project as I simply haven’t had any time in the past year to make any serious headway on it.
The car was stood for about 6 years before I got it (a year ago) and I have been able to drain the old fuel and clean it out, and make a start on some of the welding, but beyond that, I have not really dented the work needed to get this back on the road.
As a manual 2.6 this is a pretty rare car, with the full Sportline package, it's even rarer still. The car has the upgraded bushes, lowered/stiffened suspension, smaller diameter sports steering wheel, quicker steering box, leather bucket seats (front and rear) and the Sportline cosmetics (badges and rear spoiler). I have also fitted a set of reconditioned AMG 15inch alloys (cost me £540) so it's starting to look the part.
BAD POINTS:
Sadly there's a ton of rust, mainly in the jacking points and the boot area. I've fixed one jacking point (passenger rear) this needs the sill end section closing with a panel. The driver's side rear is just as bad and will need extensive new metal, both front points look ok apart from a little corrosion so may need small plates.
The boot is terrible; there are several holes worst of which is the driver's side to rear wing seam, which has rotted through. There's plenty of areas needing some small plates around the tail of the car, but the crucial areas are ok both front and rear screen surrounds look good as does the rear parcel shelf etc.
In fact the car looks quite good on top, it's just let down by a few scratches to the boot and bonnet that need blowing over.
Mechanically, it doesn't run due to dead fuel pumps but turns over on the key with a fresh battery (included) and holds good oil pressure. I have not had it running but was reliably informed by the previous owner that it was his daily until he stopped driving (elderly) and he said it, "went like stink".
So all in all, this car needs saving, it's rare and will make a sweet motor but does need someone handier with a welder than I am and a suitable garage to work in (not his driveway outside like me!). I can’t let it sit on my drive for another winter as it will no doubt get beyond saving by the time I can dedicate any serious amount of time to it... Sadly!
So offers around £300 will take it and it needs collecting on a trailer (obviously), all documents and keys present.
