Hey, i'm getting one of these, this one in fact: Picking it up next weekend. Can't wait! i have been wanting one of these for YONKS. I know I have made a good car choice when I can not find a single nugget of info on the interweb at all about it. No pics, no nothing! Its all 'Type R' style integra stuff, nothing about the rust-prone earlier model. Do these cars come under any other name for the J/aus/usa market? Of course, any pics etc extremely welcome, but I don't want to fall into the trap of 'Tell me about...!'

The annoying spoilt kid (that i knew in teh 80's) 's dad had one, always thought they were interesting stylish lil creations. tonnes of potential...probably where did they all go? in theory loads of old dudes should still have em, but would an old dude buy a pop up lighter? Nice work (Mr)xbo11ox! in a similar vein (sp?) bad example

I know DIDDLY SQUIT about these. Although if I recall my 'What Car? 1987 Review' book, weren't there just two models offered in this range in the UK? One was pretty BOGGO, and the other was a bells-and-whistles 16-valve jobbie. Or am I WRONG?
Which flava have you snaffled there?

Pog is 100% KOREKT (Ikea spellling) in his sum-up of available Integra models in teh UK.
Mine is the time-travelling EX 16 version, with a 1.6 twin cam motor nicked out of the CRX, developing a nugget-flattening 125 BHP.

Also know little about them, although when I worked for Honda I did get the honour of driving a couple. They drive nice and smooth as all Honda's do, should never break and IIRC they are quite revy little motors. Stick a CRX lump in it FTW Edit: I see yours already has the CRX motor in it, have fun!

The vehicle debuted in Japan in 1985 as the Honda Quint Integra before going on sale a year later in North America as part of the then-new Acura lineup. Three and five-door hatchback bodies were available, with a 1.6 L DOHC 16-valve engine powering all three. The engine was the vehicle's most publicized feature, as DOHC, multi-valve engines were anything but commonplace in entry-level models at the time.
The Integra was based on the less-sporty Civic, although it featured a small list of key upgrades over its lesser stablemate to help merit a price increase over the CRX Si, which was otherwise the sportiest compact vehicle being offered by Honda/Acura; enlarged 4-wheel disc brakes replaced the small front-disc/rear-drum setup used by the Civic and CRX, suspension calibration was re-worked, better tires were used and a 113 hp DOHC fuel injected 16-valve engine was used in place of the SOHC, 108 hp unit from the CRX Si. Combined with sleeker styling and a nicer interior, buyers were effectively convinced that the Integra was worth the extra money, and nearly 228,000 units were sold during the four year run of the first generation model.
The first generation Integras actually came with two different engines. Although they shared the same engine code (D16A1), there were a few differences. The engine differed in the years 1986 to 1987 and 1988 to 1989. The two engines are commonly called the "Browntop" and "Blacktop" due to the color of their valve covers. The "browntop" came in 1986 and 1987 Integras while the "blacktop" came in 1988 and 1989 models. The improvements in the "blacktop" engine included lighter rods, domed pistons for slightly higher compression, and an electric advance distributor (the "browntop" came with a vacuum advance distributor). The overall gain in performance was about 5 hp to 118 horsepower.
The original Integra was not without its shortcomings though; despite having 113 hp and a reachable 7000 rpm redline, the new DOHC engine had little torque and needed to be wound up quite a bit to make full power, leading to criticism that the model wasn't well-suited for day to day driving on surface streets, but was better tuned for spirited driving down tight, windy roads.

Am mate of mine had an EX 16 valver like yours, in red too. I thaught it was fantastic! Pretty quick really, and the novel pop-up headlights made it funky in the looks department too. After prolonged thrashing it got a bit tappety, but was quite a strong motor considering. I seem to remember really liking the interior, but I can't remember why! (it was a while ago)

There used to be a white Accord Aerodeck knocking around here, similar front etc., really low on deep-dish alloys. He had the side windows blacked out, matching the black bumper bits etc, it looked very VERY cool

Nice one! loved these since they came out, much like the Aerodeck. Nearly nabbed myself a Silver Integra the other week but just missed out on it, it was the black bumper edition.
I remember watching a program about drug smugglers in the late `90s, and this particular team were using a fleet of these Integras to get the gear through customs, must have deep door cavities or something, every car they used was one of these, and they were too rare by then for it to be coincidence.
2 door one is another superb looking motor that we were denied!

I believe they were popular with drug smugglers due to their reliability and comfy seats, and the fact that their relative rarity meant the resale values were always quite respectable.
And they have pop-up lights!

I saw that documentary, the rarity of the car at the time was what caught them out in the end, they were both red ones too! I think you better take a good a look under the wings etc. to see if any mysterious baggies of "salt" surface.
As for info, I have in my posession some sort of brochure, so bear with me.

That was Undercover Customs IIRC.
They have a slight AE86 look about them in black and white. Lovin the one above, just goes to show what wheels can do.

From the Hirst Library of Old Japanese Car Tat, I present the INTEGRA: Cover with mad spoiler action! High-performance race-bred DOHC engine certainly sounds an interesting prospect. "integra-tion" Chin spoiler to reduce underbody turbulence. I REALLY hope it has that radio in it, it's a "HIGH POWER SYSTEM" and looks very cool indeed. 4 speakers! That was part 1, stay tuned for part 2. Don't wait today mind, I'll probably do it tomorrow. I can assure you it is worth it for the interior shots alone!

Cool cars these. My parents owned a red EX-16 for approx 10 years and it never once let them down IIRC. I think it had mega miles when they sold it about 4-5 years ago. It went to a fella near London who apparently had a workshop full of the things - so that's where at least some of them went. Hey, i'm getting one of these, this one in fact: I don't suppose, by some coincidence, your new one is F187 LPM is it? You never know
