I wonder if the OP and the seller are actually one and the same? Whatever the case, you think he'd at least sort the pog in the arches to justify the £1300 price mark-up.

If it was the same person though, I can't see the sense in telling everyone the original price. More likely someone's just hoovered it up before OP could, and lobbed it straight on the bay with a big mark-up.
Nice car, I'd love to cruise around in something like that.

i doubt it was the OP, he mentioned it was gone the next day he went. someone snapped it up knowing its "ebay" value, its worth more or less what its being sold for but i couldnt pay that knowing it was sold for 200 just a few days before.

Why not? It's how dealing with second hand cars works.

because i couldnt personally shake off the thought of feeling like a mug paying 1k more than that guy paid litterally days before. if i didnt know, it wouldnt be as bad.
even then i nearly bought one of these a few months back for 1.2k and i knew the original owner paid little over 400 for it... but that was years before and he added a new set of (minilite) wheels and looked after it well.
like i said its worth what hes asking. don't deny that, id still buy it if he was selling for 800-1000 as its a bargain to me aswell but hes asking top dollar for the effort of listing it on ebay, with a bs story to boot.

£1500 is far from a ridiculous price for a rwd pillarless 80's J motor in decent nick. This one looks about 100 times better than the metallic blue one that has been doing the rounds.

I agree it's a fair price. I totally get the point being made above though; I wouldn't be able to convince myself to buy a car regardless of true value, knowing that I could have potentially bought it for £1300 LESS a few days before. As for the blue one on here, I reckon it's probably more solid that this one; rear arches look great and it was left in dry storage for 15 odd years iirc.

So some of you would miss out on a decent car at the right sort of price because the seller was making a nice profit on it? The phrase cutting ones nose of to spite ones face springs to mind if the price is right I couldn't give a monkies what the seller paid for it, if he's making good profit on it then fair play to him

At no point did I refer to the car in question in my post, it was more of a general question People were saying that they wouldn't buy a car that they knew the seller was making a big profit on. Which is their choice but its all a little short sighted imo. Hence my question "So some of you would miss out on a decent car at the right sort of price because the seller was making a nice profit on it?"

Whoever buys that isn't a mug. It's perfectly reasonably priced for its condition and for what similar examples go for. If you didn't know what he'd paid for it, you'd probably say the same.
He's not ripping anyone off, he found something for sale cheap, and took an opportunity to make some money. Why should he sell it on cheaper than what the market rate is? It's akin to someone selling you a £10 note for a pound, and you going into a shop and saying "I only want to buy £5 worth of goods in exchange for this £10 note, because I didn't pay £10 for it."

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like this. Well said. It'll be interesting to see whether he can shift it for £1200. At the end of the day, although we like it, it's not a mainstream car, it's clunky looking to someone who doesn't 'get' it, and it's certainly not scene. I wouldn't have thought it'll be the easiest car to shift.

It's worth a look now at that kind of money, even knowing what he paid for it.
