I would have been on RR sooner but didn’t know if my VW Scirocco was up to the standard I usually see on here and didn’t want to embarrass myself, not saying that my Mazda is the dogs nads as it clearly isn’t. Yet. I put 83,000 Miles on the Scirocco in five years, it’s my first car and I am going to miss it when she goes. I will look after this Mazda, as best I can. I’m no mechanic though. As for the price, well I offered him £1100 as he fitted a new battery and put it through MOT recently. I think I paid a little too much, but hey, we all don’t get what we want.

Usual thing is to cover underside cavaties insides of sills etc with the stuff. Personally I think 'waxoyl' itself is junk as it doesn't apply properly. if theres already any trace of rust there it doesn't really help.. Either use dinatrol or engine oil if you want to rust proof...

id peel back any rust you can see if you can get underneath (ie. on ramps) you could coat the whole underside. take wheels off etc and give it all a good coating in the arches. you may end up finding some rust as your going through it but better to find it now rather than mot time in 12mnths of spreading. obvioulsy isnt anything bad enough to fail an mot so should be good.
all depends on how long you plan on keeping it and how much care your willing to put in.
will be keepin an eye on this car ;-)

Thanks for the replies, I’m no expert or mechanic so I can’t say it’ll be in showroom condition but we’ll see what I can get done. I’ll keep you updated!

Yes of course, I will try and sort some larger ones when I have the time. Although you’ll see the many imperfections and then impending rust onslaught. Haha! Talking of which, how much would I be looking to pay to get a wax oil treatment?

Hey dude, first thing i'd do is measure those wheels! I doubt they are the correct stud pattern. They should be 4x110 but nothing in 17" is ever likely to be as that pattern got dropped in the mid 80s before 17s were common place. Next thing, is try and source some early bumpers, without the horrible wrap around. Good luck with it.

Think they are 16"...not 100% I think those bumpers might be a bit tricky to get hold of!

I spent six hours cleaning the interior on Saturday afternoon, turned 3 buckets of water brown and pretty much got rid of the smell of old fags and dirt. Thankfully no cigarette burns present but the seats need some heavy duty cleaning. I did what I could with some turtle wax foam upholstery cleaner but it wasn’t enough for the grime on the seats. I don’t know why they were so bad, my Scirocco was from ’88 and it was nowhere near as bad.
I need to remedy the slightly leaky sunroof, it isn’t corroded nor does it have moss but the rubber has shrunk a little. Any ideas what I could try to sort this? Give me until the weekend and I’ll get some bigger better photos up on here.
