Went for a drive last night and I lost my dashboard lights, not a fuse so I expect all the bulbs have finally gone, this car makes me laugh. I remember my old Magnum coupe (or maybe the Firenza before that) had a tiny little switch hidden under the right hand side of the dash that would turn off the dash lights. And thanks for making me finally post something at last after lurking far too long! Just thinking again.... maybe it was my old HB? I've had a lot of old Vauxhall's :-) I started work at the plant in Luton in 1974.

are your lights switched on by a pull switch in a bit blow the dash on the right ? if so it might be a dimmer switch try turning it on and then twisting the pull switch side to side

Guys you are both correct, there is indeed a switch that was turned off! So not only do I have lights but the heater controls now light up too, something I was trying to fix since day one. Here's a new pic of how she sits.

Beautiful. Just like my old 2300 - VLU 847M. My Firenza was GPP 227K. My HB was CLM 583H.
Can't remember the later cars, but I did replace the Magnum with a brand new black mk1 Astra GTE A795 LUR.
It was all Vauxhall Roll Plan cars after that....

This will probably spilt opinion... I actually fell asleep halfway through doing the front near side tyre, long day at my parents lol the garage floor must be more comfortable than it looks. At the Bristol car show earlier parked between Christine and a ford sedan. And my friends buggy, a reinvented mobility scooter. My diet clearly isn't working

Thanks guys
Lowering will have to wait as it seems even at standard height I'm catching all the speed bumps around here, I can't get into Tesco's very easily at all.

WOW that looks brilliant. Those wheels that were on previously were a personal insult to my eyeballs, but now it looks 100% UNIMPROVEABLE.

That'll look really good, I couldn't justify the cost in the end, especially when he couldn't guarantee no air leaks.

So went back to the tyre centre today to get my tracking done. (they didnt want to do it first time around as my wheel bearing needing some adjustment). They then turned round and said my steering rack is bent!
Is it possible to straighten these or am I looking to have to replace it? (guess it depends how bent, not very apparently)
On the plus side my handbrake cables turned up this morning so I'll get them fitted this weekend. And I've managed to score a pair of bullet wing mirrors for £30 so they should be here by the end of the week. Its been a whole week using the car to get me to work and back and I absolutely love it, really surprised by people's reactions to it. Although some of the attention whilst at motorway speed I'm sure isn't exactly what you'd call safe.
Really pleased with the car overall, just itching to go out in it for the littlest reason lol

If the steering rack was bent the steering would be impossible or stiffer one way than the other. If theres a slight bend in a track rod, its not necessarily a big deal and should be able to be compensated for when the tracking is set. 'Bent steering rack' is I suspect a get-out clause often employed by tyre fitting monkeys when they are struggling to get the tracking right due to their own ham-fistedness.
If you think there is an actual problem I would just try taking it to another tyre fitting place and get a second opinion.

Cheers xbo11oxThe steering doesn't feel any different from one side to the other, so I expect as you say it was late in the day and they couldn't be bothered to fiddle with it.
