... love about your RR?
I am aware I still haven't done the obligatory photos of my ride, but you have to remember why the industrial revolution took place in Manchester (curse word with rain all the time-> humid weather->good for textiles..). so you just have to believe me when I say it was raining last weekend, and will be raining this weekend too...
anyway meanwhile I was wondering what are three things you most like about your car?? I will kick off naturally
1) It puts a smile on my face. I don't know why, and I don't really care why, but it genuinely puts a smile on my face when I catch a glimpse of it across a crowded carpark... (I am ware of the thread on the dude screwing cars, so I won’t indulge on this point too much... ) 2) I am one with the elements. Thanks to no damping whatsoever, I feel every stone and rock, thanks to several leaks I can inhale the fresh scent of rain in my car, and when it gets windy… well lets just say they don’t come any “box”ier than a hunter. 3) Driving it is a total body workout! No hydraulic assist on anything, means every muscle group down to my glutes get regular exercise driving this car. I even have to stuff the seatbelt back into its cage manually!
Add to all this NO ECU, and you have a winner on your hand!
PS. I know its off topic here, but I am thinking about sticking a twin Weber 40 up my engine’s nose. Is there any reason why I shouldn’t? I am not keen on cracked heads etc…. (engine is not Holbay, but is the 1725cc with alloy head).

3 things? i'll find 3 that apply to all my cars...
1) they are beautiful. i love the shape of every car i have, its a pre-requisite for anything i buy. they make me happy (stop already dirty minded folks) when i see them.
2) they're mine. nobody else has anything similar. my mark is upon them, they stand out, people notice them as mine/being different/being loud/being fast. and the fact they represent me having worked to earn them
3) each and every one has its own character and i can tell them apart. put me blindfolded into any of them and i will tell you which one it is. start them up and i can tell them apart. i could draw a list as long as my arm about foibles and bonuses of each one. i can tell you history, purchase details, what i've done with it, intricate details because they all have their own little nuances and i love that about them, they make themselves interesting and involving.

now why would you say something like that!?!?! please don't make me take the cover off the car in rain. It really leaks in rain ..... I know some fraternities require you to hang by your balls before you get admitted, but consider that there are only 8 Hunter topazs (any ideas what the plural for Topaz??) left in the Uk and have mercy on the car....

This just applies to the Charmant, the Miras are too new to really count.
1. I love how utterly plain and mundane it looks, in a world of cars with dramatic styling it makes it stand out. It is the car equivalent of a little Japanese man in a navy blue suit. When I drive it people give it more attention than the Mira despite lacking all the turbo whistle.
2. I enjoy the effort it takes to drive it from cold, loads of messing around with the choke and struggling to get into 2nd until it warms up. The way you have to drive it in a way that is "just so" to get the best out of it instead of just smashing through the gears. Makes you feel like some sort of technical expert.
3. Finally, I like the fact that very few people outside of RR would see any potential in it as a car. It is a car which was obsolete on its release and thus very few have survived. I like the idea that I'm keeping it alive and away from scrapyards, even going as far as taking it to a professional body shop (very soon!) so I can take it back to its former "glory". It's a car I wanted for years and now I've got it, I just can't see me getting rid of it.

...I love the way 'normal' people think I'm odd for buying those unusual old Japanese cars.
...they're so utterly dependable, easy to work on and reliable.
...its minimal depreciation. And even if I make a loss, I take comfort that others will have some use from the car.

The Minis: 1. They never fail to put a smile on my face and everyone elses. 2. Their Cheekiness 3. They are usually worth more than I paid for them The BMW: 1. The noise 2. The speed 3. The handling Wont count the 'cruiser, although it's ridiculously handy for retro-saving duties

The Triumph: The good- The ability to turn most things into a dot in the rear view mirror - The noise as the gearlever rifles home and the revs start to climb - Launching in 1st at 5000RPM and leaving great black lines The bad- Deafening (in an unpleasant mechanical scream way) - Windy (windows open to get the heat out, fans not quite finished yet ) - Needs some fettling and some rust treatment

8-)The best thing of all is that they are mine! I wouldn't swap any one of them for any other make of car. They are Skodas, I make no pretence of them being the best cars ever made, but they tick all my boxes like no other car can.
The Bugrat cos I built it, and is huge fun. Also it holds many good personal memories, both in it's current form and the original donor car.
Their character and charm, wether you're doing 90mph or not moving at all.

It dead - about time I got a new ride Three thing I hate about it.......... 1. It's not a patch on my old XR4i 2. It's not RWD 3.
