went to go out in the saph this evening and it wont start, sounds like the ticking is coming from the Foxguard immobiliser, or possibly a relay behind the dashboard? not sure which but its not priming the fuel pump or even trying to turn the starter motor, so i would wager its the Foxguard, anybody had this happen before?
is a 2.0 I4 injection engine if that helps
cheers for any help

Just dug out my Ford Sierra Owners Handbook 1987 6th edition it claims that it is in the spare wheel well on all models the cut off was fitted to. It is possible to set them off by dropping the spare wheel back into the well Thinking about it I don't think it will be this as you said its not even trying to turn the engine over edit - too slow lol

According to my handbook relay 1 in the main fuse box is for the ignition switch, worth a check?

decided to pull the dash apart and it was the immobiliser box that was clicking, dodgy connection, so all sorted now

Have you checked the starter conections ? although if it was that the pump would still prime when the ign was first turned on and yes the starter would still turn if the fuel shut off had tripped, laters cars it's in the driver kick panel not the boot
