Hey lovely people!
So I've been talking to a guy about doing an event/meetup at Classic Le Man next year, we're still talking through things, but I thought I'd gauge some interest here.
Plan is drive down to nice Chateux, fill it with old cars, our cars and all that good stuff, chat, eat, take photos, relax, sleep, then head to Classic LeMan. That is the bare bones outline of it.
What do people think? How many are heading down to Classic Le Man, how many would be interested in such a thing?
What sort of pricing/package would you like? All in, so we deal with ferry, chateaux, maybe even entry (!??)? Or pay to come in as part of your own trip down? Or have an options for either?
Thoughts? (or just vote on the poll if you want)

Sounds like a great idea. I would be coming from the opposite direction but bar the ferry I would be interested in the rest.

Very interested! I did Normal Lemans this year but would love to do the Classic, entry/camping/ferry seems to range from ÂŁ200 to ÂŁ300 for the normal lemans. I'd guess the classic would be something similar.

Sounds like a superb idea. I was planning to get into a Nurburgring trip next year - but I reckon this would be even better.
I would be pretty interested in a 'book and forget' type option.

Sounds a brilliant idea, planning on going down there anyway. Would be great to have an RR car-show at a Chateux or something too - I imagine it'd be pretty popular too! The idea would have to be finalised with plenty of time to book hotels etc though, as I imagine rooms disappear pretty quickly for that area at that time. Please make this happen, would be brill - 100% up for it

Already started to talk to some of my old mates about doing a holiday based around Classic Le Mans next year. Either way, I'd love to be part of the RR 214 Le Mans in some form...

If 'Economies of Scale' made it a lowest cost option trip -I suspect there will be quite a large gathering. However, if it prices up,I suspect a substantive percentage of those vocally enthusiastic will sadly wither away.
Its a great idea- I'd love to do it!

Sounds amazing. I very much doubt I could afford it but I'd be on it like a shot if I could.

Oui!
Me and my brother were talking about doing Classic Le Mans next year (well... we were talking about it last year too...). An RR tie-in would be even better.
Personally I would prefer to get there under my own steam and just pay for the venue and camping. I think keeping it to a budget would certainly help, as the fuel costs will be fairly considerable for many.
I've had a cursory look at the Classic Le Mans website in the past and actually found it a bit confusing as to which tickets get you what, and how much it would actually cost. Maybe I'm just being a bit thick though, it wouldn't be the first time!

was looking at it the last time it was on and tickets are anywhere from 49 euro to 140 or so depending how posh you go/what you see

You can't go and not camp. Camping at Le Mans is 50% of the awesome.

It is even more so at the classic. When the cars at the tents next to you are 3 x GT40 replicas, a blower Bentley, a couple of E-types, a Cobra and a Lotus XI it makes your head spin.

In our "Street" of tents this year at the 24hr, there were 9 911's, a gorgeous Mk1 Scirocco Storm and a BMW Z1. Kids in a sweet shop? I think so.
It's looking like we'll have a convoy of 4 cars going next year and are seriously looking at the classic instead - We're definitely up for this if we do.

Been to the "real" Le Mans a few times now. So thinking about the classic, is the classic race day traffic jam as bad as the jam during the normal race? Likewise race day parking?
Because I was thinking about camping off track, somewhere with loos and showers without a mile queue. I know a very nice campsite next to a lake, that's a 30 min drive from Arnage, but if the traffic and parking is like the normal race, then it's hard to get into Arnage for the race on race day. So camping at the track and not washing is the only answer, which is makes it difficult to sell the Classic to the girlfriend!
