Here we have a rare example of a 1986 Peugeot 205 XS unmodified except for the 1.9 SMR/Speedline alloys. This is one of the last ones the line with the original amazing styling with the sliding vents which they stopped producing in 86'.

Reason for selling as I have a new job and need something bigger and better on the motorway. This is a very reluctant sale as this car has brought us so much enjoyment.
These are becoming extremely rare now as most of them have been turned into rally cars or written off. The low gearing means this thing goes like a pocket rocket go-kart and is so much fun to drive. Has basically the same performance as the 1.6GTi but is very cheap to insure and tax. I get between 40 and 45MPG. Has done 122k miles.
This car has been looked after meticulously for the past 16 years that we have had it. My (now late) old man was a mechanic and did everything by the book. New head gasket and belt about 10k ago and had a major service inc. water pump, fuel pump, filters etc.
New clutch about 8K ago
Oil change, filters, starter motor refurbed 4 months ago
All tires have loads of life in them.
Lovely speedline 1.9 alloys really give that extra grip. Still have loads of tread.
Famously comfy original seats passenger side and rear in great condition, driver seat a bit worn.
No rust patches
Bad bits
Driver seat worn through to the foam, I have had all the other seats covered and they are nice underneath
Ignition return spring has gone but this has never been a problem for me
Pops out of gear when reversing - quite problematic and needs some attention
Some denting of the near side wing
A few stone chips as would be expected of a car this age
There is a knocking when turning tight corners at high speed but I have been assured this is no problem as it has been doing it for 5 years or so and hasn't got any worse
Am open to part EX for either 306 TDi, Golf TDi or Audi TDi as I need something cheap to run on the motorway.
