How on earth have I not heard of this before!?!?!? Truly amazing, and given the value of these cars these days a gutsy move to drift one!
The choice to leave it ratty and drive it hard will upset more than just the Ford purists too

I'm not sure they are 100 percent Aussie. The XT was the first of this bodyshape and looks identical to the 1966 US Falcon. IIRC people down here use Aussie parts to convert US imports (eg 2 doors that were US unique) to RHD.
As for the value, the GTs fetch big money, but I think base spec cars can be had for very little. There are a couple of XWs on carsales for less than 5 grand for example.
Still, it is awesome!

hot ones got Cleveland's not wheezers
they are based on the American falcons of the same era, they were only all aussie from XA onwards
non GT models are cheap and plentiful
as above cortina's are smaller then falcons, later models could be had with 4.1 litre /6 engines, they go pretty well as well
