I am really interested in this conversion. looks great and very impressed with your work. I am thinking of doing one myself. your an inspiration. For R/H drive could you use the Audi rack and modify the column?

I know you are a very skilled mechanic/machinist/fabricator/artist etc, but how the hell did you figure out all of the wiring for the motor? Is it as straight forward as just removing all of the curse word that doesn't connect to the engine loom? Also, in order to get it to run, have you kept the audi ignition and immobiliser or have you managed to bypass them?
The main thing that I like about your build threads is your straight forward can-do atitude. Far too many people on forums who are afraid to try new things or spend too much time thinking and planning stuff only to think themselves out of actually doing it. You just tend to get on with things and do them. A proper hot-rodder.

Cut the curse word out, mount on an old piece of wood, shorten wires, put back in. Keep EVER THING simple. Motor vehicles are very basic once you remove all the bull *hit. What I do is not rocket science. Even though lots of builders like to mystify it. As for the “can do” attitude. That comes with age and I'm *loody old, ha ha . The immobiliser is still there. (Key now taped to the coil thingy) It can be removed from the ECU but costs more than I'm willing to pay. Dave

Was considering converting to left hand drive, but after driving the van for 2 months before starting the conversion. I changed my mind. It doesn’t make much difference. The van is tall enough to see over most vehicles. Plus it has its advantages. You can talk to pedestrians. Scream in the ear of *loody cyclists. Remonstrate face to face with idiot drivers. Step straight out onto the pavement as these things are so wide you stand a good chance of getting run down if you were to exit road side. As for fitting the Audi rack I never got that far, but I think with a little machining the Citroen rack could be flipped.

Hi, we move back to NZ after Shanghai so RHD would be better for me there, it's tricky with NZ compliance etc.. will source a van next year in Europe and ship it. So it's interesting to know that with some machining maybe flipping the rack might work it would save a heaps of hassle. then just the wipers to change over i suppose... cheers..

As I said before, this week I installed the engine management. Cutting all the wires going to the engine, to length and wrapping. This took a whole day. View from the cab. View from the front. Also made up the battery leads. But forgot to order any ends. So made them as well. As I have no photos of the finished underside. Showing its rust free condition. I took a few. All I had to do here was wash the chassis/floor area down with a stiff brush and soapy water, panel wipe and paint. Took a few snaps of the business end while I was at it. Looks a bit busy in there….. With the van back on the ground it was time to fire the motor up. Turned ignition on and all the dash board lights lit up and flashed just like they should. Engine turned over but wouldn’t start. Few more tries and nothing. After several more attempts the battery was starting to drain. In desperation I gave it a quick shot of easy start. (I don’t like using the stuff) and ………………………………. Away it went. Coughing and sneezing for a few seconds, then it cleared and ticked over beautifully. It now starts first time. Every time. The rest of the day was spent fitting the large box of water hoses I ordred from e-bay. Apart from bolting the radiatoer to the front of the chassis that’s the mechanical side of this project finished. Next week I continue with the body work…………… Dave

I think this is fantastic!
Good choice of engine too, Mrs Tea has an A4 which is currently showing 245,000 miles on the clock and still plodding on (touch wood).

All the ign wiring now goes to the original Citroen ignition key. The immobilizer coil was removed from the Audi barrel and the key with the chip in, temporarily taped to the coil. ( so the engine will run) I will eventually make a proper anti theft device using the chip and coil. Or I will get it removed from the ECU when I get it remapped. Dave.
