Hi mate, been seeing your van repeatedly mornings or evenings along the A441. I commute in the other direction in this. Nice van you got there. Nick. Hi Nick Thanks for your comments. Give me a flash (so to speak) next time you see me rattling towards you.

HI Dave, Just to say I loved seeing your van at the supernats, looked the nuts coming towards me as you arrived. I've always liked the HY vans and reading you build-up and seeing it first hand I gotta get one!. Was hoping you and the van would be at the Nats so I could take a better look. Good to hear your France trip went well. I have your phone number so will give you a ring for some advice if thats ok.

Dear Dave,
Thank you for the reply and information, I was wondering are there any shows or events you attend that I might be able to come and see your van please? From what I've seen of other renovations this certainly is the top end and it would be great to see how the engine fit and how you've fitted it out in the back

Hi Dave, my wife gave me two Citroen HY vans as a 50th birthday present! She bid for them on eBay in France and although she was only wanting one she had to agree to take the second one as it was going to cost the guy money to get rid of it! Anyway, I smiled, said thank you and headed off to pick up HarrY and Henry, named by the kids, in France and deliver them to a friend’s yard in Gironde. Having been let down by a couple of guys who were going to do some work on them I headed over again to pick up HarrY and bring him back to the UK. As I did not have a garage here, and only skills picked up as a kid, I have enrolled in a Classic Car restoration course in Liverpool and am making progress on the chassis and bodywork. With that side under way I started trawling the web for a solution to the mechanical side of things. I intend converting the van to a camper and with three young children, and hopefully still youngish by the time I’m finished, I need reliability and efficiency in getting around. Although there are a couple of other options I know of what you have done seems to fit the bill, as long as it can be replicated! I am keen to see what you have done first hand and hopefully have a decent chat. I haven’t been in touch before as I wasn’t expecting to be either near your premises or visiting your beach in Wales any weekend soon. However, I now need to pick up a length of cornice in Birmingham at some point between this Thursday and next Monday and as I think you are in that general area I was hoping I could catch you at a time which suited you.
As time is short please get in touch either through here, on 07939 163562 or at iain.speedie@headzone.com .
I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks Dave for getting in touch and inviting me down for a bleather and a look at your van. Although I thought you were onto a good thing with your solution to the mechanical issues I was more impressed than expected. Even with a more modern engine and disc brakes it still feels like an old van should, and I'm not sure what that's down to...probably the combination of all the swapped components and tweaks!
To top it all I saw the first Pop I remember seeing in Custom Car being rebuilt!
Christmas arrived early...
Kind regards.
Iain

Hi Iain. Was nice to meet you. Pop in any time. (as you saw during your visit, it’s more like an old persons drop in centre than a garage. Ha ha.) Thanks for your comments. Cant figure out myself why the van feels like it does. It’s been on the road 12 months now, in its modified state and it still gives me a huge buzz to drive. Dave

Didn't think their would be two of these about haha! I met you very briefly at the Alex hospital in bromsgrove whilst I was drooling over your van! Think you had to shoot off at the time so never got change to tell you how good the front exit exhaust sounds!
