Hi, I need to find a way of making my vans sliding door open wider to clear the rear wheels. Does anyone have any idea how I could do this? Its a 1989 Nissan Vanette if that helps Thank you

often you can make a longer rear link and the door will open wider on the rear its hard to explain but hopefully its self explanory if you look at the door.. si

I've looked at this on my Vanette and it's not as simple as that I'm afraid. In fact it'd be pretty difficult to do as you can't just lengthen the rear link due to the design of it and the way it's runner curves round into the door shut. I think it may be possible to modify the lower front link which would still kick the bottom of the door out a little. I think if you removed the rubber stop from the front of that channel you could make that front lower link a bit longer and the door would still shut okay.

iveco use a plastic bit on the body of the van to move the door out wider as it goes past the rear wheels. not a good pic but may be of some help to you as i think it uses the standard door runners and linkages just moves the runner out wider so no issues when the door shuts.

I think it might be possible to space the rail out from the body at the bacl a bit but it'd look a bit naff.

Why not use different offset wheels so any extra width goes inwards instead of outwards ?
