July Speedline sl434 by WELSHPUG, on Flickr fancied a change of wheels.. Also that Walbro unit failed, which was a bit curse word, I got a standard VDO unit form a phase2 xsara in a breakers to get me home and that's still in there, though it struggles to pick up fuel when the car is on an angle, looks like I might have to get a proper bosch o.e unit at LOTS of £££.

Good to see all the work that has gone into this! Love how it sounds on the rolling road videos!

thanks Dave, minor update - MOT ran out end of October so its been off the road whilst I tinker with a few bits, namely welding the exhaust and making pattern part tat actually fit properly, its quite shocking how curse word the fit is!
New bushes on the bottom of the rear dampers, lifted the ride height a little on the back, swapped the bottom engine mount for a fairly fresh standard one but filled the voids with PU adhesive.
Annnddd managed to trace down a very reasonably priced genuine bosch fuel pump on teh bay of E all the way from Latvia.
MOT booked for later today

yeah, I spotted them on ebay and won the auction for a decent bit less than I have seen many go for, they are still available new with minor differences from the original type. one thing I love them for is that they are proper competition wheels for cars that used the same front end architecture (hub carriers drive flanges etc) , and thus they have quite epic brake caliper clearance radially.... 20150919_193222 by WELSHPUG, on Flickr 20150919_193143_LLS by WELSHPUG, on Flickr that's a Renaultsport Brembo caliper from the Clio 3/Megane 2 over a 310mm rotor on an alloy bell, with NO spacers granted there's curse word all clearance to the top corners where the nipples are, so I will run a small spacer to add a margin, but I am very pleased with that

Love the progress. Quite a lot of work on the motor. Ill bet that paint job will come out just fine....Ive gotten surprisingly good results from simply sanding both primer and first color coat smooth before the clear goes on.
looking forward to your progress!

Hi Nathan! Indeed time is marching on, I had done bits and pieces and used it a bit, the new 2.2 has done about 4k miles or so.
I do intend to at least get it all in one colour and watertight before it goes outside and I start on the 205, that has been off the road about 7 years now.

Did you ever get a final power figure for it before it was abandoned? Has Oz still got his VTS rally car?

its around 200 at the wheels, so maybe 240 at the flywheel.
nah, Oz is now married with a kid and a half and a Vivaro crewcab!
