That is mighty fine and as you say very rare. Not feeling the brown colour below the bump strips, has that been painted on or is it original? The interior looks to be very tidy which is a bonus. What sort of mileage has this done? Good luck with it.

Should put a VB or VH Commodore (Australian) front end on it...

mk2polobloke - it's not original, looks like it was brush painted on by the previous owners in an attempt to hide his repairs to the door bottoms. They're held together with duck tape... Interior's tidy though, and that's always the hardest part to find with old Opels. It's done about 60k. darrenh - the other matching wheel was in the boot, the spare held air so was used to get it out. They might be the same as the Admiral alloys but they were originals for the Commo B as well! sciclone - those Aussie Commodores have the same front ends as the Senator A we got in this country. My dad's got two of the earlier ones and I've got one of the later ones, this one's staying original Thanks for all the kind words all! I'll keep this thread updated, but it might not be any time soon. Got a Lancia and a couple of Senators higher up in the queue.

I didn't know they imported these with four doors. What a great find! I love the front of these; they look so 'strong'.

until GM combined their concerns, there were opel dealers in UK selling right hand drive models until late 70s

Holy Blitz that is AWESOME...!!!!
I love the fact that it has the same Ronal alloy wheels as the later model Mk1 Ford Granada Ghia, they look the business. I am looking forward to seeing this old barge take shape! Will it be restored back to standard or do you have any mega plans for it?!
Being so rare standard would be my preference but it's not up to me is it...?!?!?!

Don't think I've ever seen one of these. It does have a bit of the Aussie Holden vibe about it as someone mentioned and that interior is a time-machine . I also like the sticker collection - looks as though someone did a bit of touring around Germany and Austria, planted on those brown thrones! I can't ever see these browns making a come-back in the auto world.

until GM combined their concerns, there were opel dealers in UK selling right hand drive models until late 70s Yes, GM offered a full range of Opel equivalents into the early '80s IIRC, generally with a higher specification and price than the Vauxhall version. I didn't know the four Door Commodore GS/E was one of them - I only remember seeing the 2 door coupe, which seemed to sell quite well. The Commodore saloon must have been rare even in the 'Seventies! This one will be staying standard, I know of one other in this country but it's pretty far gone and will be broken for bits by a friend of mine soon. Should provide a couple of doors and some decent repair sections for mine!
