So, I've been lucky enough to come into a few quid, and thinking that I might spend a little bit on the car. But not sure what to do? I like it pretty much as it is, so I won't be going mad. Clear repeat indicators (yes, still haven't got round to that) and maybe some new springs to drop it slightly (especially at the rear). Anything else you can think of that won't cost a fortune?

Acquired from eBay for the princely sum of two pounds and twenty pee. Admittedly, it is for an A-reg Porsche, but it was typed rather than written, and it's so small and faint, you can barely see it.

Nice car. I like these. I can't remember the last time I saw one though!

Nice car, I remember renting one from Gatwick on a one day, one way rental to S. Wales back in '92. Really liked the auto, and the mpg computer which I could get into single figures, which at the time I thought was fun. Also loved the fitted car phone, which I didn't connect but that didn't stop me holding the handset at the traffic lights ! Happy days. Good comfy barge, enjoy.

So it turns out that the seat height in the Granada is too low for my wife (even when adjusted) and is exacerbating her spinal problem. Looks like I'll be on the lookout for something 'higher up' soon, such as a Scenic RX4 or Nissan Praire. Not just yet, because it needs a bit doing to it, but if you're interested watch this space in the New Year.

My stepdad has been doing some work on the Granada for a few weeks. Put it all together this morning to go and get the tracking checked and...click! Nothing else. It's always started fine for me, the alarm and immobiliser have never given me a problem, but the car has never been sat for so long (about four weeks) and when the doors are open, of course the door lights and interior light run the battery down. Is it likely to just be a flat battery, or is there something else that's well known to cause issues? I'm supposed to be going 250 miles to pick it up tomorrow...

Looks a bit like the old one j had for a bit: Unfortunately it kept cutting out and I never managed to true bottom of it and sold It as spares/repair. There was a cable from the negative terminal on it that if u wiggled would get it going again..! It had plenty of space and wasn't as slow/thirsty as I was expecting being the 2.0 one..actually went pretty well!

Yes 4 weeks is plenty of time for the battery to go flat, try it with some jump leads from another car

Just got a call from my Mum and it's all fine. A loose wire that my stepdad had missed despite saying he'd been over it with a fine-tooth comb, probably the one on the neg terminal that sarkie83 mentioned
