Sorry to mention this Chris but your Pacer is certainly not the last right hand drive one. We have one of the first ones converted KMW217P. Nice to see that you are going to get it back on the road Check out www.ourclassiccars.co.uk ...and message us Jim Westwell

Hello all, I was researching about this particular car and stumbled upon this forum so I thought I would share my experience with the car.
A couple of years ago, I started my week long work experience at a garage in Redditch. As a shy car enthusiast, I stepped into the garage and immediately saw a fairly large, matte black hatchback, however I could not remember what it was. Then it clicked that I was looking at an AMC pacer. Under closer inspection I noticed it was right-hand drive which was very rare.
After talking to the boss Gary about the car, he set me the task of stripping the interior by the end of the week as the floorpans needed to be replaced. So, the next day, I started working on the car, removing the innards of the AMC. I had worked on many cars before but this car really struck me as special. I was so enthusiastic about the car, I managed to finish stripping the interior by the next morning much to everyone at the garage's surprise.
Since my work experience at the garage finished about 2 years ago, I have been trying to find information about it and have been telling as many people as possible about my experience with this amazing car as it really taught me more than any car I have worked on.

There's one , used as a dayly car in the centre of amsterdam. 15 years ago it was gorgeous , but i was too young to appreciate. Now it is a real bad rustbucket and it hardly moves anymore and i would love to own one. Strange hiw things can go. Keep up the good work. They can rust man!

Hi all, Been away two years again. Owenevans I'm glad you enjoyed working on my car! Cheers man. The car was put up for sale earlier in the year, due to me being off work for 4 months seriously ill, major ops over, back at work and the Pacers back home. In all honesty I was going to move it on, but getting it back I've fallen in love with it all over again. Lodge Park did some great work, and the car is actually pretty solid chassis and floorpanwise. Major work still to do on the body though. Chris Warr.

I was gilbatburton in the above posts lol. Nice to hear you are ok and continuing with the project. Just as a matter of interest does the chain steering have a slack adjuster?? Mine was a bit sloppy and I couldn't find an adjuster.

Hi mate, No, not that I know of, TBF all the old Yanks I've had over the years have had pretty vague steering, I just got used to it! CW.

Your AMC is lovely, mine will never be back to original now, it's been modded too long. It's good to know there's another RHD out there, I've found out there's one in Aus too, so 3 have survived so far! Chris Warr.

Great to hear you are not selling your Pacer... Just need to get it on the road!! By the way there are now three RHD Pacers known in the UK... Yes three!! The other one has recently been bought by Richard Turner in Southport. He was going to use it as a donor car for his LHD drive Pacer but has decided to put it back on the road. We could set up our own owners club at this rate... BTW there are a number of quite active Facebook pages for Pacers and AMC cars if you are interested. Our Pacer by the way is not a minter ...although incredibly solid it still has the usual scabby bits on the back valance and on the tailgate. I have got the ownership history from DVLA and it was originally white then burgundy/cream and now silver. Rather upset to find it hasn't had any famous owners either...

I'm nearby you (I'm originally from Halesowen).
Is there any chance of seeing this car in person? I've always been a big fan of them and I've always wanted to see one.

Hi there, no problem, The Pacer's all packed up with it's glass, spare parts and trim & interior inside, in dry store now, but when I'm dragging it out for work I'll let you know. Cheers CW.
