Me too now thanks Brian! never seen one of these before. so i'm hoping someone helpful as ever will tell us a little more about em. In good old fashioned Yankie style it looks like they may of only made this shape for one year, just like my old fave '59 Chevy! a bit boss hog, 4 door or nowt! Any other random lustworthy Y-tin?

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

For example my '72 chevelle is but for a few details the same as a 70 and 71. And i'm fairly sure that the chassis and basic tub of the body shell is also the same as the Pontiac lemans/GTO, buick GS and oldsmobile cutlass.

Chevelle wagon, it caught my eye while searching for '1970 Buick' Still a bit of 60-70's Y tin that may not have as much scene tax or classic tax, i wont be ruling out a big old bruiser cruiser out of the master plan just yet!

FFS a '69 Wildcat! How did I miss that? Oh yeah, I banned myself from eBay. Love them. yes, one year only body style, good luck getting panels... pretty much everything is different on a '69 panel-wise, although the doors may be common to the '70. It wa called planned obselescence. The idea was to refesh the designs every year and therefore encourage people to upgrade more often.
I've had the jones for one of these for years. I missed a clean '69 LeSabre for sale a few years ago, saw it living on the same street as amate in Cov for a couple of years then it got torched in a dispute withhis neighbours!!!
Its a 4 door which limits its value. I might hold out and buy one in from the US when I'm flush one day.
If anyone buys this they have a just-about guaranteed buyer here for it when you are bored of it.
The Wildcat is basically the LeSabre shell with the Electra engine and a "sportier" package. Its lighter than an Electra and more powerful than a LeSabre. Its a full sized car. That one is just shy of 220" long and weighs in about 4200 lbs. 1969 is a very good year. Last of the proper high compression lumps. The 430 is a damn good motor, often overlooked by people wanting the extra cubes of a 455. Makes about 375 BHP and 495 lbs torque from memory (455 makes 375 and 510 respectively). Peak torque is something like 2800 RPM. Total stump puller. Trans will be a TH400 and you'll probably have the 12 bolt rear in that. Posi was optional, but unlikely in a 4 door. Some people call the Wildcat the "bankers hot rod" but that title was originally given to the Chrysler 300 letter series.
Look out for rot round the rear window frame, in the boot floor especially around the chassis mount points where water congregates. Other rot favourites are the boot lid (tripple skinned at the closing section and tricky to repair right) and front floor/toe-board areas.
They are like all GM b body cars - Fisher body built on a separate chassis so even quite ropey ones can still get through the MOT. technically sills are non-structural even.
15 sec 1/4 mile when stock (on cross ply tyres!) many have fairly high gearing but the factory offered a selection so you may be lucky and have something over a 3. in there, maybe.... Again unlikely in a 4 door.
But then my '66 has optional low gears and thats a 4 door. (in fact mine has all the "performance" options except the posi so I wonder if the original owner was trying to get a family hot rod type car together at the dealer...)
Buy it and trade it me for my Chrysler when I have that fixed up!

been on a document management conference! Woohoo.
They aren't common over here and they aren't that sought after.
I want one though.
Maybe someone I know is bidding on this one - dunno. If he does get it I will be keeping an eye out for him getting bored of it. Hoepfully coinciding with me having some dosh.
Theres a beaut of a '68 Wildcat over here seen at a few shows. Also with the 430. Sweet. Very very gloss black. I must have a photo of that one somewhere...

boat tail was a Riviera not a Wildcat. Boat tail versions were produced 1971 - 1974
Its obviously impossible to hudge properly from a photo but my gut says the Wildcat on eBay is probably worth about £1500 depending on condition under that black paint. What it makes is altogether the joy of eBay!

Thats the puppy. I have also seen that '70 Riviera around too. I think I saw it for sale or it might have been a different one. Not expensive at all. Probably one of the least desirable years of the RWD Rivs.
That wagon is hawt. Biscayne?

the red beauty is a 1970 Chevrolet Brookwood.
In the 60s and 70s, some years Chevy station wagons were given their own name - Brookwood, Townsman, Kingswood etc while in some years they didn't and were just Biscayne, Bel Air, Impala etc. Confusing eh?
In 1970, Brookwood was the base model, based on the Biscayne.
