It doesn't look all that terrible in the photos! Either way, you should have fun with it. The first 944 you had looked lovely (I was itching over whether to buy it or not when it was put up for sale).
How many 944s are now on RR?

A good few it seems. Yes my last one I bought for £800 and sold for £1500. I expect to find one that clean and rust free would now cost £1000 more. This new beast cost me.......£250.

£250?! Crikey! I just paid £850 for a practically mint 924 2.0. The main thing that put me off the 924S and 944 models (purchase price aside) was the cost of parts - mine is my daily so needs to be cheap and basic for me to repair whilst piling the miles on.
I actually quite like the colour of yours, but from the photos it does look as though it might be a bit of a shoddy job. Enjoy (again)!

The paint job is nasty in the flesh. Sanding marks, micro blisters, just utter nasty. Was originally black so will be going back to that.

£250 is an excellent price...you could easily more than double that amount if you just stripped it and sold the parts.
I'm not sugesting you do that, but if all goes wrong you'll still be quids in.
Good luck with your project...I must get around to getting mine back on the road this year.

Good price, is it staying auto? Says I missed it so I have now bought the car shown below, its gonna be a fair old project. has been repainted a hideous brown and is a auto at the min so a manual conversion is on the cards. Has some 10j rear wheels with 285 width tyres. not my ideal style of wheel but wide none the less!!

It does somewhat resemble a turd in that hue (Marrakesh Brown?)
However, £250 is a bargain - I presume this is for a useable runner?

Well there is a slight issue...... Has very little fwd drive. Reverse is great though! So yes rather than faff about with replacement auto box or damper plate conversion il just switch it to manual. I've done similar conversions before on German motors. The brown is vile. Back to original black is in order. Has a valid mot until October too. Box packed up shortly after and has been parked up since then.

car got delivered to me today, seems its actually more of a dark burgundy than a brown. they clearly went thru some effort to paint it as boot floor and door jams have been done...........the paintwork and filler work is however terrible!!! the auto box I'm guessing is scrap as it seems to have drive in reverse but nothing at all in forward gears and rattles like a beast when in park/neutral/drive at idle speed. I thought it may of been the damper plate that connects the flywheel to the torsion tube however fact it seemily has a reverse drive but no forward drive implies to me that its probably the actual box that's shafted. the rattle seems to come from the box too. its pretty rough and ready and has had patches welded in at rear ends of the sills but I reckon its savable. Looking at previous mots it seems its only done 1000 miles in the last 11 years!!

I do love the bodyshape of the 944. Looking forward to seeing where you take this.

Knackered box or not, £250 is a silly amount of money to pay for a car with so much potential. Much billybargainatiousness going on.

Haha that advert made me laugh. The interior is deffo not in average condition. No rear quarter panels, front seats look like a dog has chewed them, no rear view mirror, door cards at front held on by a wish and a prayer.
