Heya all!
Thought I really should start a thread on Ary, my beloved 109" especially as she is 30 today!
firstly this is how she looked when I first got her, over 10 years ago:
Sat on knackered springs, worn Avons (one had a creme egg-sized bulge in the sidewall!)
running a sweet 2.25 5mb petrol, and a gearbox with syncro left on most the gears
she quickly gained a roofrack (we already had it, my mum was using it as a tomato growing rack!)
And some HD parabolics, and borrowed the better tyres off my dads 107" as she was my daily driver
then one warm summer the inevitable happened:
ran round like that for couple of months, including blasting through two thunderstorms
when winter came around though (had a tilt frame & ropey tilt for a while) decided I missed my roofrack, and decided needed windows & a safari roof:
Also for my 21st my parents brought me the set of Kumho venture MTs in 235/85r16 seen here, and I brought myself the steering guard
(bumperettes were added by me too, because they are pretty)
also clear-lighted her too:
settled on her being a hardtop for a while, when the tiltframe ended up on my 88" diesel. But eventually I decided to safari the 88" (Aryette) soo Ary gained herself a tilt again
Also the kumho's started to wear, so fitted many different things, these are the 7.50x16 Olympic Steeltreks off my 88" (& me. You might not believe this, but my friend took this in the Peak District without my knowing!)
in all this time I changed the gearbox for a s/hand one off ebay, that died & was replaced with a recon box fromo Paddocks. That lost 2nd gear :banghead
Soo got it rebuilt at CS Gears in Coventry, lasted just under a year before what we think was a defect in a tooth meant she stripped 1st completely. However was rebuilt under warranty and is fine now
Also about 2006 the valve stem seals died in the engine, and my friend had just taken the 2.5 out of his 90 afew months previous, and gave it me. fitted it over a weekend (needed to get to uni on monday!)
Oh, she's now running 1-ton rims with 255/85r16 General Grabbers
soo yeah, brief history, probably not in order, of me & my beloved Ary
Oh, and she has her own facebook page: www.facebook.com/pages/the-Mighty-Ary/201018473423

Well just got back from a AWESOME weekend in Sheffield, drove Ary up there for the Resistanz music festival (Incredible Bands )
As you may or may not like it, a pic of one outfit:
(taken 3am After being at the festival!)
went up in convoy from Tibshelf services with MisterBob & his 109" ex-mod FFR Leonard. retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=130623
Only just sneaked under the roof of the carpark, that was buttock-clenchingly tight!
this pic is outside the front door of the marginaly posh Jurys inn hotel (we had alot of people & cases to load, and only a curb stopped us ) Ary had Only just sneaked under the roof of the carpark, that was buttock-clenchingly tight!
set off, with bob taking point on the motorway.
Unfortunately just past J32 Leonard had an ignition fault, wouldn't run at all. Not a problem, as I carry a cheapy solid towbar 'just in case' :smilewide:
soo Ary celebrated her 30th birday weekend in her usual style, simply being awesome

A canvas topped Landy is always a fun thing (although I appreciate the creature comforts a hardtop can bring! Had it a while then?

tbh a standard hardtop is noisier & colder due to being single-skin aluminium. the tropic safari twin-skin roof is better, but the sides need insulating too. A canvas doesn't as much, but is still cold

Damn woman, how long are those legs??? Cool boots though. I could do with a pair of those so I don't have stand on a box to work on my Disco Could you get MrBob to clean his windscreen so the next time he gets a tow home we get a nicer shot of Ary's bottom?

Hey Vee ;D Cheers for the tow back today. Will see what's up tomorrow night! As for the dirty windscreen - I actually cleaned it very throoughly before we left. The 'dirt' is actually deep scratches in the glass - god know what happened when it was in the military! Anyway - it's been an ace weekend. Here's to the Beach-Party on Sunday! xx

Had enough of points to last me a lifetime though - hence have ordered an electric conversion kit. Anyhow, I won't hijack Vee's thread. Ary's a lovely old girl. It does cause a stir when we're out and about in the SIIIs

Heya all!
Not updated this in a while!
Ary has generally been her usual fantastic self, just being there waiting when am using something else or perfectly happy on daily duties.
Couple of things have done recently were replace the borked servo, which turned into a pig of a job due to the pin through the pedal housing being seized to the housing (won't be next time, now its a bolt Lathered in copperslip!!)
Also the crank pulley bolt worked loose, allowing the pulley to shift, which in turn allowed the woodruff key in the crank to fall into the sump. Which meant stripping all the timing case off, and the sump, and replacing the key.
Soo i took the chance to check the timing chain (perfectly fine) and to paint the timing case bright red
Now she's back up & running fine (hit 83mph on the way to the limes last weekend )
no pics of the engine work, but have this to make up for it
xXx
