So an old family friend has just been to the Baker household. She is currently sorting out her parents things as they are moving to a residential community for the elderly.
She was talking about a garage that her dad rents. Apparently, he has a tiny Honda van from the 1980s that hasn't moved since the early 90s, stored, properly, inside. She didn't know what van it was but said it had a very small engine.
The only thing I can think of is an Acty, unless anyone else can think of something else.
I'm just wondering if anyone on here knows much about them before I go over to have a ganders? It could be a real find, and I wouldn't mind having a project like that! Although, where I would keep it is another question entirely.

Surely must be an Acty? Seen a few Acty pickups on Ebay over the past few years, but not seen a van for sale, or in the flesh for many years. Quirky little things! When I did a bit of googling on them a while back, I discovered Honda continued to make them for years, although I'm not convinced I like the look of the modern equivalent. Here's an example: Here's a 4000 mile original, which sold at Charterwells in Sherborne a few months ago. I didn't see the sale price, but the estimate was £2500-£2800... And have a bonus pickup for good measure: Finally, here's a comedy van: Looking forward to finding out what happens!

I will do, might be a while before I go and uncover it yet, and tbh, it may well have been stolen or trashed since it was stored.

1977 will be a TN7 - 360cc two cyclinder air cooled with stacked headlights. Please keep 100% original as ultra, ultra rare. Most / survivors are pick-ups so doubt there is even a handfull of TN7's about. In fact I reckon less than a handfull - and that might be in the whole world ! They fell apart within a very short period of time so to microcar enthusiast such a find, if in reasonable condition, is next thing to Holy Grail.

Thanks for the Info guys, I'll be seeing it probably within the next month. They have a lot of sorting out to do before they get to the garage.
I'm not holding out too much hope, all I've seen is a V5, which said it was a 1977. It might not even be there anymore, the garage hasn't been opened since someone attampted to open it.
If it's one of those ultra rare ones with the stacked headlights, I'll probably just take it off their hands so I can find it a worthy new home. I'll want to do some modifying, and if they are that rare, it would pay to keep it standard.
I'll keep you updated with everything I know, so watch this space.

Thread revival I've heard nothing about this since the original post and had naturally assumed that either a family memeber had had it, it wasn't there any more or some other boring reason. Cue a random phonecall out of the blue earlier today and the son of the owner, who knows my dad, asks if I would be interested in it. They're getting a locksmith to fix the garage door this week, and he's coming up from Gloucester at the beginning of July to open it, and by chance he is coming up on the morning of my Birthday. Coinsidence??? It was parked in there 20 years ago, and the garage is said to have been comepletely watertight when it went in, and in good condition now, but god only knows what we will find when we open the door. Here's hoping there's a well preserved little gem in that lock up, but I'm guessing it's going to have done what 70's J tin did best, and turned into a pile of oxidised dust. I'll keep y'all updated

So much depends on the garage. Even some watertight ones can be in situations where they stay cold inside, which makes warm air condense onto metal. I had one like that and it was terrible for anything left inside it. But if it's a dry one then you might just be very very lucky.

I might have been very lucky... It's an Acty panel van. It's covered in spots of surface rust from it's 30 year storage, but it's all skin deep and underneath it's completely solid and original. The interior is immaculate and oh so retro. It even had the little paper floor mats that come when you buy a new car from a dealer. I am absolutely over the moon with it and I am definately keeping it. I'll be posting a build thread detailing it's journey back to the road. RRG anyone...?

Looks like a proper find all the same though. Congrats on being the lucky curse word who had first dibs! One word for the future though - Waxoil. Do eeet.

how many spiders did you find? Thousands, literally. Cleaning out the back required a filtered dust mask so I didn't die. The ainchent carpet didn't help
