+3 on the windy gun. Even running one from the A52 4hp compressor (175 psi/14cfm) it just didn't have any guts. None. I could undo nuts/bolts with a standard length 1/2 ratchet that the Aldi impact wrench wouldn't shift.
The Clarke one that replaced it is light years ahead!
The compressor is a cracking little thing for keeping in the garage and pumping up tyres, the odd bit of sand blasting (I used mine on a Clarke small blasting cainet and it was ideal!) and maybe some spraying.
If you're thinking of using it for big spraying or running DA sanders, cut off wheels etc...forget it.
The compressor is well worth the money as long as you're not expecting it to work outside of a 'hobby' environment.

Went halves on a compressor with a mate, bought a cheap underseal gun to go with it and it's probably almost paid for itself undersealing & cavity waxing his car compared to the price of using the spray can stuff. Have my car to do too, plus it's come in dead handy for other things such as blowing up lorry tyres- much easier to bring the compressor to them than lug the things down to Tesco's and keep throwing 20p's in the meter £99 well spend I reckon.

for cutting straight lines on sheet metal, I use one of these saws (£30 from aldi, when on offer, or about £45 from machine mart). I norally lay the sheet metal on wooden strips on the ground for clearance for the blade. they cut through 1mm and 2mm steel like a knife through butter. www.aldi.ie/ie/html/offers/special_buys3_23496.htmand with the cut off saws, you can use them continiously with the aldi compressors, if you turn the pressure down, although it does take them longer to cut though, and the cutting discs are more liable to jam if you're not gentle with them.

Think the one i have is one of theirs and have a small issue in that the check valve has crumbled! was leaking so figured I would take it out, clean the threads and reseal but as soon as I put any kind of spanner on it this happened ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) ![](http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f66/BBSparky/Mazda%20MX5/20130312_133724_zps475e1cbf.jpg) You can actually crumble the pieces by hand ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) so need to find a replacement part now and also try and get the rest out of the thread in the cylinder.

guys could some please give a rough guide to what sort of power rating you need for inflating tires, running small tools and a gun for removing wheel nuts? also if you use the compressor at the weekend and leave it off, do you need to depressurise it to avoid damage? how long can they be left happily between usage etc. just a rough idea as i'm after one for my garage and it will get used sporadically.

I have the Compressor which I use to run the Plasma cutter, also bought the Cut-Off and Buzz gun a few years ago.
Its not that they are curse word, its the fact they are inefficient internally, even when I plug them into my BIG compressor the speed etc was the same. With this in mind I found an online article about modding them "Simply" to get the required power.
I'll stick a link in this thread when I find it.

I can vouch for the shears. I don't really use them for cutting intricate shapes. I use them when cutting a section from a 8x4 sheet of 1.2mm into more use able section. Doesn't warp the sheet at all.
