Hitting it with the stick.........questions.

Just my 2p........(with disclaimer)......I have lowered many cars by cutting the springs ..to keep them captive use heavy stiff wire (coat hanger wire )to wire them into the cups . Have been thro' lots of mot's with them no probs at all , but may have just been lucky........You must reheat the end of the spring to flatten it to the next coil to provide a more or less flat seat,then grind it into a tang . Wouldnt be able to do pig tail type tho' !!! I personally would only ever do my own cars ,lots of people have asked me ,but I refuse . BTW Regard the spring material as a straight bar ,the shorter it is cut the more leverage is reqd to bend it ,hence the wound 'rod' gets stiffer by cutting coils .
