Not forgotten! But not much progress - the other rear wheel has been refurbed and fitted.

I have been on E Bay recently, as I had cracked the windscreen against the roll cage sometime ago, anyway, I have now got a good screen as a replacement. Then I looked for a pair of seats and after a trip out today I have got these. So slow progress is being maintained....

I have tried the seats in the B - and they appear to be Big - or is it the BGT is Small!! Anyway I have also been tweaking on the offside body panels - and now the door shuts with the door lock and no masking tape to hold it together..... Snail like progress.

Err.............Wow!
Just spent the best part of an hour reading this tread. Makes my project pale into insignificance. Love it!
Thinking matt or satin black myself.
Couple of questions re the cage. Why isn't it closer to the roof and why no roof diagonal?
When are you starting the nitrous install? :-)

Thanks Alan - it is a far more "agricultural" project compared to yours! The cage was originally closer to the roof - well actually the roof was closer to the cage but at a late stage I had to raise the body 2" to get clearance at the back of the engine/scuttle and I will be putting a roof diagonal in next time I take the body off (But it is not for serious competition use) so no nitrous.

I would hardly call it agricultural! With regard to the cage I did wonder if, as they say in the forces, 'no battle plan survives contact with the enemy' :-) As long as the cage is higher than your crash helmet the front bar won't be in your sightline. So, no nitrous, yet :-) Mind you, fitting gas to this would be a bit of a mission, with 12 separate carbs. Any idea on final weight and power? And don't call me Shirley, I mean Alan :-) Regards Steve

Sorry Steve - I thought it was Lotus Alan but of course I cannot spell! The Power is the standard XJ-S 300 BHP but that is with the very restrictive 40mm x 2 inlet to the air filter so with my 6 x 40IDA I would think 330 BHP is likely??? The weight will be around 1700Lbs again estimated.

Despite the lack of updates I have been doing some small jobs on the "Mega B". Principally getting the rear wings to sit neatly and fixing the side lexan windows. However the seats do not fit and the roll cage is in need of "adjustment" so I will be doing some more welding soon - but the welder has been declared "SHOT" as the wire feed gave up (- when somebody else was using it).

That is a PLC and they don't need a "Restoration Mechanic" on their books. So not totally unexpected and I am quite happy to retire gracefully now.
