My Golfs' Carb is the first car I've had with such, enjoy it for it's old school attitude of throwing air and petrol at the engine to make bang bang!, but I also F ing hate it because it's never quite right....chuggy in the cold, over rev's in the warm. Pooburg for the bin - GTI next.
Set the pierburg up properly and itll be lovely i promise you..
Had many a pierburg equiped vw in the past, And with a little time and a gas tester, they run sweet!
Ive bought polos that have been destined for scrap due to bad running, Only for me to tune them on the gas tester and start and run perfectly.
I think pierburgs only suffer from occasionally falling out of tune (as do all carbs) The problems arrise when people then don't re-tune at the first sign of problems.
Imho i don't think its anything to do with them being"worn out"
