Where are people looking now for finding the old school cars for sale?
eBay is about as much use as chocolate tea pot and piston heads everyone seems to thing it's worth double it's value.
Those old cars from ten fifteen years ago must be somewhere.

I agree that ebay is not good , i really won't start moaning about if i start so i will restrain myself !!! I belieive a lot of certain models are definately nicked etc . As for finding cars , just having a bit of a drive about looking in peoples drives and yards and they are there . I kind of do it without realising now . I know where to find - supra3000turbo , mini , an anglia and a scirocco storm mk1 . Whether there for sale is another matter ,but it pays to keep your eyes peeled

Most of those old cars from 10 - 15 years ago have been fragged now! Thats why you don't see many early mondeo's any more or Sierra's or Montego's and they were everywhere! Your local free paper is worth a look + get friendly with your local cash for scrap cars / metal collecting people - if you offer more than the metal yard they're going to be happy - just don't expect to get anything with an export market this way or any old Fords

Local free paper or cards in supermarkets / newsagents are the natural places that old guys giving up driving or widows tend to advertise their kept in garage only popped to shops once a week cars. With the cards you can tell a lot about the owner from the handwriting style on the card.

+1 for Gumtree. I've noticed that you sometimes need to use a local post code for the searches to work, not sure why. I mean if I search for all cars on the whole of Gumtree under a grand using my Edinburgh post code and compare it to an identical search using a central London post code then I sometimes get a couple of differences in the search results.
I'm always on the lookout for old bikes and I've seen loads of projects being offered for sale since just before Christmas, loads more than I've seen in other years. If people are feeling a bit skinted they'll maybe start shifting project cars or weekend cars?
I think the scrappage scheme had huge impact on the availability of older cars. Remember those photos of the decent looking cars all parked up on the runways?

Its true that the older sort of person is more likely still to get rid of cars with shop window ads , especially if you still have independant small motor factors shops around . They are always good as the seller no doubt has been in and out of there to buy there p38 , glassfibre , aluminium mesh and thick ' engine seal ' stuff proior to sale !!! ;D ;D
